Toranomon BAR shinkai — Restaurant in Tokyo

I’m a regular customer at Toranomon Shinkai for the past three years. It’s one of the best bars in Tokyo that offer good food, good atmosphere, and good drinks. It’s very difficult to find a bar that can offer all three.

I don’t speak Japanese very well but the staff at this bar still try and assist me and make their best effort. Nonetheless, one of the bartenders, Ryu-san, he speaks English very well. So for foreigners who have zero Japanese language ability can still visit this bar and feel comfortable.

Tucked away upstairs and really a bar more than a restaurant. I kept walking past it seeing its advertisement for “medicinal curries”. Didn’t want to get caught up with the happy hour crowd so went for lunch.

Limited menu but very good if you LOVE spicy curries like I do. I got the large plate of half pork and half chicken. Should have gone with the med which would have been more than enough. Very nice bar. They have a wonderful selection of vegan curry. I highly recommend it. They also have quite a lot of Japanese whisky and can recommend some smaller producers. We found a couple of new brands we're on the lookout for now.

The one drawback is that they allow smoking, which usually isn't an issue, but out got quite a bit heavy when several people behind us all lit up some pretty strong cigarettes at the same time.
