EDIT: Rest in Peace, Giuseppe :( Thank you for the wonderful memories.
My wife and I came here while we were vacationing in Tokyo. We read the reviews (I love Giuseppe's responses to some of them), and had high hopes; and even then, Giuseppe blew them away. This was some of the best italian food I've ever had in my life (has knocked Giacomo's in Boston down to #2 for me). Everything I ate was delicious but my wife loved the salami (9 month aged without any additives to speed it up and "cheat"), and while I was blown away by everything I ate, the olives really surprised me; Giuseppe later told me he grows these olives himself in his own garden and pickles them himself. They were perfectly tart and olive-y in a way I had never tasted before.
Giuseppe was also incredibly nice and his attention to every customer was impressive; he made sure everyone was satisfied. Really loved it here - not only for the food but for the atmosphere, service, and Giuseppe's personal touch. I feel this is the closest thing you can get to eating a home cooked meal prepared by a true Abruzzo grandma!
hats off to you Giuseppe - i've made sure my sister (visiting Tokyo soon) will visit, and I will see you next time we...
Read moreTrattoria dai Paesani brings the real Italian flavors to Japan. The best part of this restaurant is that everything they serve is homemade and they respect and promote the Slow Food movement. Had the best salami in the world at Trattoria dai Paesani, the best Ventricina ever and the best service in town. Going to this restaurant not only you will feel in Italy but you will also feel like part of the family. Giuseppe is the wonderful man who owns and manage the restaurant and he is a real gentleman. He has lots of passion and knowledge to share. You can really breathe and feel Giuseppe's passion for what he does. Davide is the chef and in my opinion the greatest chef I ever met because he mixes homemade techniques with modern techniques in order to create the most delicious Italian dishes you can taste in Japan. Trattoria dai Paesani is not just an Italian restaurant but a restaurant who proudly serves you food from Abruzzo, a region who has been ranked number 1 in Italy for food. Thank you Giuseppe and Davide for the incredible experience. I have recommended you to so many people and you are one of the reasons why I want to come up to the wonderful...
Read moreAfter having tried countless Italian restaurants in Japan this restaurant absolutely blew me away! The owner provides vegetables from his own garden and uses it as ingredients for his food which I like very much because I prefer to know where my food comes from. The menu itself is providing the only regional Abbruzo kitchen in Japan and is refreshingly different from the usual choices you can find in other Italian restaurants. Additionally, the choice of regional wines is absolutely outstanding! Will definitely go here again due to the amazing taste and the personal touch we received...
