ufotable Cafe — Restaurant in Tokyo

I am a HUGE demon slayer fan and came here for the demon slayer collaboration.

A little background on my first and probably last visit to this cafe. I came all the way from London to Tokyo. One of the activities I look forward to most is this cafe. The booking for this is difficult. I am not used to the lottery booking system, so to understand the translated rules on LivePocket is difficult. I didn't even know which ufotable tokyo cafe to book, the website is not clear ( I booked first floor one). The first obstacle was setting up an account in LivePocket. I was still in the UK when I set this up. I ended up having to contact my phone company to let me send an SMS to a Japanese number to verify my account. Second obstacle I faced was the need to book the Thursday before. I was at USJ that Thursday before. When the slots came live, I had to drop everything to buy a ticket fearing it would sold out, it was stressful.

I ended up getting the seats and went to Nakano for this cafe. The cafe was ok, a little demon slayer themed things. When I ordered my food, I misunderstood the rules (only in Japanese) about what an additional order meant. I thought I could order food more than once but no, you can order drinks as many time as you like but food is only once. So I only ordered one dish and got one random placemat which wasn't the character I want exactly but ok. I quickly realised it's better to order multiple dishes to get more placemats but it was already too late. I blamed myself for not clarifying with the staff so I ended up pretty disappointed. Food was alright, nothing special nor decorated. The amount of merch there is alright ~

All in all, if you're flying a long way to Japan for this, not really worth it I didn't regret going but I think winning the lottery seats hyped me up too much, I was setting myself up for disappointment. I spent more time figuring out how to book this cafe than strategising my time at USJ. I think it would be more fun if I could go for a few more times but unfortunately I could only go once. Not very tourist friendly, think it's more targeting locals. Staff is super nice though but communication in english is difficult. Food is very affordable. I am glad I came to visit but unfortunately it caused more heartbreak than joy in my case I ended up shopping in nakano broadway to shop...

昨年来店した記憶を元に心待ちにして訪れたufotable...

備忘録がてら大昔に通っていただけですが当時の事をレビュー。 Fate/Zeroのアニメが放送してた頃に通ってました。あの頃は今みたいに整理券制でもないし抽選制でもなく、ひたすら並ぶだけ。 アニメやってたのが冬の時期で、これは特によく覚えているけどアイリの誕生日プレートが出る時期の夕方、友達と外へ並んだがその日は本当に寒く、店向かって右手の路地には強い北風が吹きすさび本当に寒かった。けど、我慢して並んで待っているよりなかった。今思えば随分と非人道的だけど当時は整理券制なんて賢いものはなかったのだから仕方ない🤗 3時間はたっぷり待ったと思う。骨の髄まで冷え切って、生まれたての小鹿のように膝が笑って歯の根は合わずガチガチ鳴るくらいで、そんな中でも店に文句も言わず「あとちょっとで入れるね、楽しみだね！」と励まし合ってた私たち、えらいな。 同時期、大雨の日は現在のマチアソビカフェのフロアに雨宿りがてら並べたと聞いた。 昔は、そんな感じでよほどの悪天候でもなけりゃ野ざらしで待たされたので今は抽選さえ当たれば入れて天国じゃないっすかねぇ。 でも、その抽選も当時はおかしい事が多々あって、Fate関連でどんなイベントにも顔出して感想ツイートするんで有名なアカウントの人がいるけどテレビ放送との同時上映会、私や周りも一度とて当選した事ないのにその人は毎回当たってて変なのーて思ってた。

当時も店員さんの態度ひどくて、コラボドリンク作るのに両手に飲み物持ちながらよそ見しながら他の店員と談笑しながらグラスに注ぐとか、まるでバブルの頃の飲み屋のような豪快なドリンクの作り方が厨房から伺い見えてしまい、さすがにちょっと引いたw でも、料理はものすごく美味しくて家庭的で凝ってて、店員さんも忙しくて、オタクの客ばっかりだから(ランチョンマットの角が折れてるとか印刷が少しでもずれてると目くじら立てたりとか、細かい事気にするからイヤになってくるんだと思う。オタクって、基本的なマナーがなってないのに文句ばっか一人前なの自覚した方がいいですよ)くさってくるんだろうな、というのもわかるし、あれくらい横柄じゃないとバランス取れないんだと思う、しかも時給大して高くないし。 そんな素晴らしい接客されたいなら高級レストラン行けばいいし。 コラボカフェが高いのはロイヤリティ上乗せだからでしょ。

とすっかり店員擁護になってしまったけど、おかしいな、とにかく、昔に比べたら格段にシステムがよくなってるんだから文句言わずに金落として...
