You can find nice sushi all over Tokyo, but I was pleasantly surprised by this random hole in the wall nestled between hostess bars, tourist traps, and cookie cutter izakayas along the Ginza line. The chef, who politely declined a picture, offered the hospitality you might expect from a more expensive spot, and I was impressed by his patience and warmth despite having both tourists and locals to tend to. The fish was fresh, cut and served to order, and of an impressive variety. The chef also recommended several dishes and specials that were not on the menu, and I took him up on all the recommendations that he offered with zero regrets. Each dish (2 pieces) was between ¥150-¥600, with the popular items being in the ¥300 range. If you’re looking for unpretentious sushi with fast and friendly service, here’s the spot!

Such a quaint & cozy shop that fits say maybe 10 people. The shop is so near to Shimbashi station. Very convenient. The chefs & staff were friendly (despite language barrier) and offered me a menu in English. Loved how they laid out the leaves and placed the ginger & your order gently. A nice warm touch, to me at least. I order the following sushi - tuna belly, raw tuna belly, lightly broiled raw scallop, lightly broiled octopus legs & prawn with mayo (don’t eat these 2 with soy sauce, Chef taught me this 😍). They were all freshly made & super yums! I wish I could binge all the sushi there… 🤓 I will come back for sure!

This is a must try! Highly recommend! My wife and I went back almost every other night. The sushi and sashimi are really good. You will not regret it! The miso soup is also amazing! See the photos and drool over them! Lastly there are limited seats so be prepared to wait for awhile. It is definitely worth the wait. If you would like to avoid the crowed, I suggest having dinner early like 5pm or late lunch at 1pm. I did not wait for more than 5 minutes.

This is my go to place for “fast food” sushi when I’m by myself and want a quick dinner. Reason being that there are no seats and very reasonable prices. Sushi is however very good. As mentioned, when you walk in, there are no seats and you eat while you stand at the bar. You need to order two types of fish (except for the last order) each of which come with 2 nigiri’s. I presume this is for time/cost efficiency for the restaurant. I’ve been to many low priced sushi places in the area (such as kaiten sushi) but this places has the freshest fish. I can eat a lot so I usually end up paying 3-4,000 yen w sake. But I think you can get daily sushi special with 8 nigiri for less than 1,000 yen. They have English menus. It maybe intimidating to go there but on the numerous occasions I have been there there is often 1 or 2 gainjin and they are used to having non native customers. You can also...
