So-so experience. Staff wanted us to try to fit 3 people in a two person seating arrangement by squeezing two of us on a booth seat meant for one person. I’m not sure why they didn’t just ask us to wait instead because there’s no way we could fit and comfortably like that. We eventually got a bigger table after one person left and we ordered.
Food tasted okay, the salsa was authentic, and chips were really good. Friends vegetable burrito was giant. Overall food was okay but not really authentic Mexican unless you added the salsas. The guacamole was perfect though!
My other friend was still hungry after the tacos and went back to the counter after finishing and ordered a serving of chips and guacamole for all us but unfortunately when the chips came out they mistook her for someone at another table (other group of foreigners). I watched them take her order to another table but wasn’t sure if they had also ordered chips and guacamole so I didn’t say anything. Eventually we realized those were our chips and of course the other group just took the free chips without saying anything. The staff should have been a bit more attentive on who actually ordered the chips..and given them to the right table (we don’t all look the same) so I finally went to the counter and told them we never got our chips and guacamole and they seemed shocked for a few moments but then finally realized they brought the chips to the other foreigners. Finally they brought us our damn chips but at this point it had been for over 15 minutes for chips and guacamole and there’s no way it should ever take that long. Overall this was not the best first-time dining experience at “with Paddy”. Believe me, I worked in a Mexican restaurant for years…it’s a scoop of pre-made guacamole and a handful a chips…it takes five minute tops if you heat the chips. Maybe because I used to work as a manager my expectations for restaurants are higher too but I did feel uncomfortable here.
I will say that the large burrito is HUGE so if you want something big I recommend this place, it’s so far the biggest burrito I’ve seen in Tokyo so far. Also there’s a lot of two person seats but only two tables for groups and out of those two tables only one table is for a group...
Read moreHaving tried burritos in Japan, I tempered my expectations before trying With Paddy. I was told that the burritos were large, and there was a selection of craft beer to be enjoyed. Unfortunately, other than the burrito being sizeable compared to other places in Japan, With Paddy fell short of my other expectations.
On a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was out of rice for the burritos, tortilla chips for sides, and their selection of organic beverages. Undeterred, I looked over their craft beer menu to discover that by "craft" beer, they mean owned or partially owned by Kirin.
When the food arrived, it was well prepared and pleasant. Even with the disconnect between With Paddy's idea of craft beer and my own, I would consider visiting again on a weekday during their much cheaper lunch special. I would not recommend this to anyone hoping to enjoy a unique craft beer with and a fully stocked menu on...
Read moreHad a very tasty fish burrito (large size) and it was a good sized portion of food for me as a dinner. The basic serving wasn’t too spicy but they have a variety of hot sauces that you can add to give things a bit more kick if you wanted. Very casual and relaxed layout, cool friendly staff who don’t fuss around your table and leave you alone to enjoy the food at a leisurely pace. Nice touch to have retro animated cartoons projected silently onto one of the walls (Tom and Jerry while we were there). I’ve only knocked one star off because as a few others have mentioned it was a little expensive. Tasty, relaxed and enjoyable but not the cheapest of options...
