PIZZA ISM is an Italian restaurant situated in the SOGAWA area of Toyama City, near the Toyama Glass Museum. There are some amazing appetizers. We ordered the Bagna Cauda, Cold Cuts Platter, Oyster Ajillo, Mozzarella Gnocchi and Garlic Toast. Then we ordered three pizzas. We got the Prosciutto Margarita Pizza, Gorgonzola and Fig Pizza, and the Arugula Prosciutto White Pizza. Firstly, there wasn't a single dish that was bad. They were all good or great!!! The vegetables served with the Bagna Cauda were fresh and crisp. There wasn't enough of the sauce left to apply to other food items. The Cold Cuts included Prosciutto, Salami and Mortadella. There was a generous amount for the price. The Oyster Ajillo was fantastic! The oysters were plump. the bread quite a bit! were the pizzas. All the pizzas tasted delicious! The dough and the crust could be crispier, however, but that's just a minor thing that I don't often see done right in Toyama in general, so I can't only fault PIZZA ISM. There were a generous amount of Prosciutto on the pizza, and also a decent amount of Arugula. The Gorgonzola and Fig Pizza turned out to be our favorite! In fact, it was like a desert pizza, both sweet and savory. There was a generous amount of fig, and also the honey topping that you drizzle on the pizza. The drinks menu is quite respectable. As with other reviews, there is basically one chef and two servers, which means things could get a little hectic for the staff. Our gnocchi was probably forgotten and came last. But overall, I would gladly come and eat at PIZZA ISM again. I would make reservations on weekends, however. They were full this night. We were one out of two walk ins that were accepted, because we had come early. Enjoy some nice Italian...
Read moreAn ex-student of mine came for a visit. We wanted a nice quiet place to have lunch to catch up. We found this place in the arcade area near Daiwa. Parking is a little troublesome, but there is parking close to the restaurant. I only paid ¥200 for parking. It’s a nice restaurant. The decor is very earthy/crunchy. It’s really clean and the staff is very friendly. The pizza is cooked in a stone oven. We both ordered the pizza/salad lunch combo. The salad was light, not too oily. The pizzas came rather quickly. We enjoyed it all. The pizza was well made. It was a little oily, but not so much to ruin the pizza. Drinks were included. The choices were water, coffee, or tea. I wish there was a soda choice, but it didn’t take away from my experience. The pizza was much bigger than I expected. The whole meal was only ¥1,000. It’s definitely worth it. It’s just a shame that many of the stores around the restaurant were closed down. It would add to the enjoyment if you could do a little shopping afterwards. But, that’s not the restaurant’s fault. The name, tho, Pizza ism, has a negative connotation to it (criticism, plagiarism, etc). Maybe it needs a new name. The menu isn’t in English. If you can read basic Japanese, you’re ok. If not, Google...
