Onyado Nono in Toyama was not my original choice of hotel in Toyama but I'm glad we changed our plans and stayed there. The hotel is unique and the staff were wonderful! Throw in the incredible breakfast buffet and I would definitely stay there again.||The hotel is a short 10 min (5 stops) ride on the "Shinden" or Toyama's light rail which you can easily take from Toyama station. Look for route 3 which is a loop that goes south of the station. Get off at Ote Mall which is the stop closest to the hotel. From that stop, it is a short 2-3 min walk to the hotel by walking through the mall with the MaxTheater and then turning right on the next street. The location is close to Toyama castle and a few other attractions. However, it is definitely on the quieter part of town. The light rail itself is also frequently late which is surprising given the overall punctuality of Japanese public transit. ||The hotel is also the first hotel I have stayed in that has tatami mats throughout the hotel. Other than the lobby, you are expected to be barefoot (they also provide sandals) once you enter. They provide lockers for you to lock your shoes. This is quite a unique experience and the tatami has a nice feel to it. The staff is not fluent in English but speaks it well enough to provide good service. They are also responsive via e-mail and they were able to secure a restaurant reservation for me! ||The room I was in is probably one of their smaller rooms. With two beds, there wasn't a lot of space but it also didn't feel cramped. Amenities were good and there is a tray in the lobby to pick up toothbrush, hair brushes, etc if you happen to forget it. Like most Japanese hotel rooms, they make use of the space efficiently.||One of the main attraction of the hotel is their breakfast and other food services. The breakfast buffet is definitely an incredible spread with a good variety of Japanese cuisine. The highlight is the seafood sashimi! It wasn't cheap but it is a little cheaper if you purchase it with your hotel room. Other food includes ramen (delicious!) at night from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm along with ice cream and a probiotic drink. All were included. ||Another attraction is their onsen which is very big and includes an outdoor pool. As it is a business hotel, it was quite busy both times I used it but it is still nice to have a place to relax in after a long day of touring. ||While I tend to stay closer to the major train stations, I found Onyado Nono's location to be very good while providing a high level of comfort and service. I would stay here again and will probably consider their other branches in...

Read moremy latest experience of staying with Nono Toyama for 2 nights, it is not a nice experience. it was a family trip with my mother. ||The room is not very clean:|1. when we step in the washing area (before entry the shower room), there is a long hair on the floor|2. when we open the door of shower room, there is a very big insect (flying!) on the ceiling wall. because my mother is 65-year-old, we both every scared and can not do anything. we call the employee to help to catch the insect out of the room.|3. during the night, when we going to onsen, the clothe is not clean -- I found another long hair on the M size clothes. and also the clothe smell not good. it seems it does not wash at all. (still have some smell of last guest...)|4. in room onsen, there are still some short hair and bubbles.... |||I am very disappointed that we paid JPY 47160 but we did not received good service as Dormy and Nono's standard. even the basic cleaning is not guaranteed... This is our first time to Toyama, and we always choose Dormy Inn and Nono as first choice, but this time we did feel unhappy and disappointed. especially my mother, she is 65-year-old, and she was scared by the big flying insect in the room, and the long hair with uncleaned clothe provided by Nono.||I am sorry i did not provide any pictures, the big insect is too big and we were so scared and close the door immediately (two ladies...) . for the long hair appearing many times, we throw it away...
