This is an amazing izakaya that serves fantastic dishes on par with the best kaiseki restaurants in Kyoto. In fact, their course options are essentially a kaiseki style progression of dishes from zensai to the sashimi/grilled/boiled courses. There is a charm to the dishes here as they taste more homemade, yet they are still complex, utilizing the freshest ingredients. Their sashimi course for example offered the freshest fish devoid of any fishy taste and with textures that were so pleasant. The owner is extremely kind and so are the rest of his friendly and hardworking crew. We navigated the menu easily using the google translate camera but all the courses can be seen on their website too. If you have time to ask your hotel front desk to make a reservation and state what course you'd like, I'm sure they'll appreciate it, but I think it should be fine for you to just walk in too as many locals did that. Read moreArrived late in Uji, found this restaurant for dinner. No english menu available, but staffs are so friendly, we communicated with minumum english. Asked the staff plan the meal for me. Nice appetizer, frsh sashimi, hot food anf rice!Waiter even wrote/draw how to start the meal in correct sequences for better taste! Thanks for the great dinner!
