Had an early dinner of cold green tea-flavored soba with tempura while my wife had tempura domburi (over a bowl of steamed white rice) with a small cup of hot udon soup. We went up to the 3/F to sit at low tables (reminded me of lower primary) looking out towards the Uji river. As it was after sunset and quite dark, there wasn’t much to be seen. Even the Uji bridge which had lanterns lit along its span was barely visible from where sat. Read moreIt’s a sign when you’re the only one there….granted I came looking for a late lunch and this was the only store that was open. Ordered the set A tempura set and it should have been a sign when it took only a few minutes to prepare the dish.
They fried the tempura hours ago and give you tempura that’s been sitting in the oven until a fool orders it. It is actually an insult to pay nearly 2000 yen for a reheated meal. I mentioned this to the cashier and she only apologized.
