The Shrine's gorgeous in the fall. It's a short walk uphill, but nothing too bad. Nice place, with some English descriptions of the shrine's history, however mostly everything else is Japanese so you may need some translating help. Public bathroom in the back, and it's pretty quiet all in all.
Why is it 3 stars, then? Well, the staff there (or at least the ones I had the displeasure of interacting with) were horrid. Two of them were having a loud conversation by the aide, completely ignoring the group trying to find a time to ask them a question, and when I tried to ask the clerk at the amulet counter a question, he straight up shooed me away.

You can finish this place within 5 min. Therefore do not expect great views or austonishing experience, if you are not so into the cultural experience. Read moreNice shrine that requires you to walk up what feels like a road but is mostly pedestrians. No entrance fee. Nice Tori gates along the way in, but all uphill. It feels out of the way and quite peaceful; I think all the tourists are on the roads near the railway station trying to buy matcha powder.
There’s a public washroom back on the main road near the river. Nothing near here otherwise.
It’s a nice place to check out while you’re waiting for a spot in the tea...
