A negative experience with Tsujiri Uji store Our family group of 14 people visited the Tsujiri Uji store. At first, 8 of us arrived at the store and took a queue ticket for 8 people. When a table for 4 became available, the staff asked if we wanted to have 4 people seated firstāwe agreed.
After waiting another 30 minutes, when more seats became available, the staff gave them to the next group in line instead of us. Meanwhile, since we had been walking outdoors in the summer heat and were tired and thirsty, we spontaneously took turns using the table, while the rest waited outside the dining area.
Some staff who were unaware of the situation accused us of cutting in line. After we explained, they confirmed that it was acceptable for one group to take turns using the table.
When the remaining 6 members of our group arrived, they also took a queue ticket (for 6 people). When another 4-person table became available, we asked if our group of 6 could use it despite its only for 4. The staff replied that their store doesnāt allow that.
After waiting for an hour, we spoke with the male manager about when the remaining 4 seats from our original 8-person queue ticket would be available. The manager responded that since some of us had already eaten by taking turns at the table, those seats were forfeited and the issue was considered resolved. They told us not to pursue it further, and that they would arrange seats for the remaining 6 people (which would still require more waiting). If we couldnāt accept this arrangement, they would cancel our queue ticket.
The male store manager said this in a very forceful and even threatening tone. (A photo of him is attached.)
Because it was raining at the time, many customers who had finished their dessert didnāt leave and stayed inside to avoid the rain. So in the end, we decided to go to a different shop for shaved ice.
Overall, my personal experience at the Tsujiri shop in Uji was very unpleasant. The attitude of the staff was condescending and left a very poor impression...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a matcha set that came with a variety of small matcha desserts. While the presentation looked promising based on the menu, I found the overall experience slightly underwhelming due to inconsistent quality across the items.
The matcha roll, unfortunately, didnāt meet expectationsāthe cream filling was too runny and lacked structure, making the texture quite off. The cake itself was soggy. The square cookies were overly sweet and difficult to finish, although the matcha ice cream helped balance them out a bit. On the bright side, the matcha daifuku was a standout: delicious, with a generous filling and a satisfying chew. The matcha jelly, on the other hand, wasnāt very enjoyable in taste or texture.
What I did really enjoy were the long rectangular matcha cookies and the matcha teaāboth were excellent and captured the rich, earthy flavor I was hoping for.
Overall, the platter was a mix of hits and misses. While it offers variety, Iād recommend exploring cafes that specialize in specific matcha itemsālike matcha rolls, ice cream, or daifukuāfor a more refined and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe shop was so crowded when I arrived and people were lining up so I thought I just needed to line up and wait for my turn as there wasnāt any notice to ask the customers to sign up for a table at the far front of the cafe entrance. I waited and waited patiently until there was only one group of customers ahead of me and until that time I realized I needed to sign up in order to get a table. I explained my situation to the staff and an old lady spoke to me strictly and said because I didnāt sign up so she couldnāt give me a table. I felt so sad and I have been waiting in the line for half an hour.
Also, when I told the staff that I would like to buy the rabbit tea bowl( it costs quite a lot ) he told me there was no tax free. Excuse me? I have never asked about tax free!!!!!!!!!!! It...
