While visiting the Disney Parks we popped into Monsoons for a dinner meal, after eating there wished we went to McDonald’s downstairs.
When walking in the first thing you get hit with is an extraordinary loud shouting greeting by all and sundry, this continues the whole time you are trying to eat as they also yell at people leaving. This may be customary in Japan, but being a very large restaurant it gets a little out of hand in a large space when all you want is a quiet meal.
After being seated by a young man who couldn’t have been less interested in us being there he dropped some menus on the table and darted off. We eventually caught his attention after waving at him more than 3-4 times and even after he saw us he looked the other way, we ordered drinks, reasonable value on the cocktails.
When we ordered meals that took a long time for the first meal to arrive, that was an undercooked chicken and veggie dish that we had to send back as the chicken was undercooked and raw in the middle. After the replacement meal came out it was still close to being just cooked, my daughter refused to eat it so I the took on the meal. The cuts of the chicken were weird to say the least, chewy fatty cuts that you struggled to bite through and when you did it slid down your throat as it was not even chewable. They must order the cheapest left over chicken scraps from their vendors to maximize the profit, we have been in Japan for three weeks and have never had a chewy chicken dish! Anyway then we waited for another half hour for the next meal to arrive, this was a Laab, basically a tiny salad that should not have taken an hour to prepare. Then another 10-15 minutes passes and we get the Pad Thai, I have had better street food in Thailand over this over garlic laced mess of chewy noodles, it was seafood version with maybe 2 prawns in you are lucky. They do not have the skills to cook a basic Thai meal, this was an oily garlicky chewy mess. Finally another 10 minutes later we get the final dish, my wife waited over an hour for a stir fried rice dish, pineapple beef rice, well this was a congealed mess of sticky rice laced with sour pineapple that smelled and tasted of being left out in the sun before use. The beef was maybe a teaspoonful mixed in. Not enjoyable.
The best part of this meal experience was walking out!
We all left disappointed and 3 out 4 complained of not feeling so well after eating. The meals were not good and I can’t recommend eating here. It was an expensive exercise...
Read moreWould not recommend if you're vegan/vegetarian; even though I was with a friend who is Japanese and ordered for me in Japanese, they still brought me the meat version of my meals. When they did remake my food, it was GREAT! The server was great, but the guy taking orders refused to acknowledge me even when I waved him down and tried to communicate directly using google translate, only speaking to my friend even when apparently apologising to me. The shouting every time a new guest comes in does disrupt the beautiful atmosphere, but this is a Japanese tradition in restaurants so can't be too mad about that!
Definitely would not come here again, nor would I recommend other vegetarians and foreigners...
Read moreWe were a large party looking for a restaurant to celebrate a birthday and Ms. Kaho graciously welcomed us despite not having a reservation.
The atmosphere was family friendly and we loved the enthusiastic staff!
The food was fantastic, even with our kids who tend to be picky eaters.
