There are few people that better encapsulate the red-blooded American spirit than Teddy Roosevelt, so a period-accurate lounge, on a similarly period-accurate vessel, is a great way to honor him, as well as giving the Japanese a little slice of old world Americana to experience. It's also a great place to grab a drink, even for us Yankees, especially for Titanic fans (the whole ship gives off Titanic vibes...minus the sinking part, anyway).
If you don't have a reservation, there can be a bit of a wait, although not much: we arrived around dinner time without one, and only had to wait five minutes before being taken to a table. However, visits to the lounge are timed: you have just shy of an hour to do your business here, so don't dilly-dally or shilly-shally, bully boy!
We ordered a couple of drinks, the sandwich plate, and the appetizer plate to split between us, which ended up being a decent amount of food, even for two people. Our server was friendly and attentive, and boasted the clearest, American-accented English I have ever heard in Japan. The ambiance is dim, classy, elegant, even romantic, despite all of the hunting-related imagery and paraphernalia. It looks like the sort of place one would sit back and enjoy a glass of brandy and a cigar (if they allowed smoking), while playing poker with the lads.
Only the presence of Mickey Mouse ear-wearing patrons nearby breaks the illusion that you are dining aboard a luxury vessel at the turn of the 20th century. That's a level of detail that only Disney (or its licensed handlers, in the case of DisneySea) can pull off consistently, so it is not surprising that the quality of the entire production here, from food to service to ambiance, hits all the top marks, just as you would expect. Even in the House of the Mouse, the Bull...
Read moreMy verdict is pretty 'hmm' on this place. It's primary attraction has to be that on any other Disney theme park the sale of alcohol is overall prohibited. The service here is super friendly and the lounge itself is beautiful and feels really old school. My drink was okay as is, had a draft beer and a Singapore Sling on recommendation... the cocktail was pretty nice and strong. I didn't have that great of experience however, maybe based on how I am accustomed to a lounge/ bar environment in the States. I'm super used to walking to a bar packed or not and grabbing a drink... well, I waited in line and asked to sit at the bar but I was told the glass was crushed (bar topper) so they were not seating customers there. There were customers seated, and of the 5-6 seats available as I walked by they were perfectly fine. I really do not understand. If the concept of having a bar went so far over Disney's head, maybe they should have just left it as a lounge. Especially if you do not actually want people sitting at the bar itself. So who knows, if you come to have a drink at this 'bar' you will more than likely have it awkwardly alone at a 4 seat table because the staff wouldn't sit you there nor would provide you a real...
Read moreEnjoy this richly detailed themed bar for a drink and the ambiance, rather than the rather limited (post-Covid) food options. If you don't have a reservation ask at the door and you can usually get in with a 20-30 minute wait if it's not peak drinking times. I can't believe another reviewer thought the decor was 'tacky' - it is amazing: carved wood, leather sofas, brass, genuine Teddy Roosevelt memorabilia in display cases. It is a showcase of Disney Imagineering and worth checking out for that reason alone. Specialty cocktails are themed around the different 'ports' of the DisneySea park - they lean towards sweet but are worth trying - or you can order a classic cocktail from the extensive drinks menu. Food is more grazing platter style now and while its perfectly fine, not worth going out of your way for. Come for the decor and enjoy a drink with Teddy R. in one of Disney's best-themed...
