Ishida-ya Yakisoba — Restaurant in Utsunomiya

Local famous store for a long time. This shop specializes only in "YAKISOBA". There are many celebrity signs in the store.

The shop is very retro. It's mood is so good. There seemed to be a regular customer from the old days because there are frequent orders for phone calls.Most of them are to be taken at home.

I ordered a special mix of Ishidaya in the photo. Green dish is large size and yellow one is medium one. It was my first time to have ham with YAKISOBA. GARI(sliced ginger prepared in vinegar) and sauce were also delicious. You can buy the sauce, but unfortunately you can't buy GARI. Furthermore, no GARI is attached when you take it home, so you can enjoy it only in the store.

In addition to the size, it seems that you can also order like “Special mix for 1000 yen-amount”.

Disadvantages: There are 6 parking lots (4 on the side of the store and 2 on the street). If you put the four next to the store in the back, you will not be able to leave until the front person finishes eating. The location will tell you if you ask the landlady (I actually heard without knowing)

今日は宇都宮に用事があったため、餃子の街として有名なこの地で何を食べようかと考えていたところ、地元の方にも愛されている焼きそばの老舗があると聞き、こちらのお店に足を運びました。

なんと創業は昭和20年という超老舗！店の前には行列ができており、その人気ぶりがうかがえます。名前を書いて順番を待つスタイルですが、回転が速いのかそれほど待たずに店内へ案内されました。

店内は、昭和の風情が漂う懐かしい雰囲気で、壁にメニューが貼られた大衆食堂そのもの。店員さんたちが忙しそうに焼きそばを次々と調理し、テーブルへ運んでいく光景に、食欲がますます高まります。

今回注文したのは、「ミックス焼きそば」の特大サイズ。焼きそばの上には、ハムと肉、そして目玉焼きが豪快にのっています。見た目からボリューム満点ですが、食べてみると意外とあっさりとした味付けで、するすると箸が進みます。この薄味にウスターソースを後がけするスタイルが特徴的で、自分好みの味加減に調整できるのも楽しいポイント。

焼きそば自体は鉄板でしっかり焼かれており、香ばしさがたまらない！ソースの風味と鉄板焼きの香りが絶妙にマッチし、シンプルながら深い味わいです。さらに、焼きそばに使われている肉は食べやすいサイズにカットされていて、甘みと旨みがしっかり感じられ、これがまた焼きそばとの相性抜群！ハムの塩気と目玉焼きのまろやかさが加わることで、全体のバランスが絶妙に整っています。

特大サイズを注文したものの、そのあっさり感と美味しさで気づけば完食していました。こんなに食べたのに胃が重くならず、むしろもう一皿いけそうな気さえするほどの軽やかさ。これもこの老舗ならではの技なのかもしれません。

宇都宮といえば餃子のイメージが強いですが、この焼きそばを味わうことで、地元の食文化の奥深さを改めて感じました。行列ができるのも納得のお店で、次回はまた違うメニューやサイズ...
