One of the most memorable highlights of my trip to Japan was visiting Danās bar, a charming establishment with nearly 14 years of history. Located just a 10-minute walk from Wakayama Station, itās a cozy haven tucked away in a bustling city. The moment I stepped in, I was captivated by its unique charm. The bar is adorned with a stunning collection of artifacts and decor from around the globe, blending harmoniously to create an atmosphere thatās both eclectic and inviting. The vibe here is simply unparalleledāa perfect mix of warmth and intrigue.
Dan is super kind, friendly, and effortlessly approachable, he made my visit truly special. We had a fun conversation over three drinksāa draft beer and two cocktails. His stories were as fascinating as they were inspiring, told with a calm patience and an air of wisdom. We touched on deep topics like faith and lifeās biggest regrets, just like meeting a old firend.
If youāre ever in Wakayama, do yourself a favor and visit Danās barāitās more than a bar; itās an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

Reading the reviews of Danās Bar made me suspect that Dan must have written them himself; they are glowing. I can attest after my four hour visit that they are also deserved.
I was immediately welcomed by a crowd of locals, expats, and first-timers. Dan asked me my name and used it all night. As a newcomer I was treated as a regular; the regulars were treated as honored guests. It was like an intimate group of the most interesting people in Wakayama on that Saturday night decided to come and hang out. I didnāt leave until 2:30am.

Really glad we did!
Dan has created a visually interesting bar with a fantastic atmosphere. It felt that everyone there was part of a small community of friends and they were extremely welcoming.
Dan ran the place himself, and was an interesting person who gave us some travel suggestions.
One of the people we talked to offered us a lift home at the end of the evening, which we took up. We are really grateful for the positive experience...
