Hachiman — Restaurant in Yamagata

Delicious yakiniku at slightly higher prices for the area. Reservations are recommended!

Very busy joint, they serve 4 cuts of Yamagata beef (kalbi, loin/roast, hanger steak, tongue) all of which were tender and tasted amazing. Wasabi or lemon is provided on the side depending on the cut, and there's the standard sauce, salt and pepper at the table.

Salad and sides were nice, reminiscent of their old shop "Touen" on the main street.

Beer, sake, shochu, umeshu for drinks, fresh sake available.

Only thing I didn't like was how smoky and greasy the dining area was. The ventilation was not enough for all the tables coming meat at the same time. The floor felt a bit sticky which was awkward because you need to leave your shoes at the reception area. Expect to leave...

Came here at 5:45pm but it’s already fully booked. The waitress asked me to come back at 7:30pm for the table. And when i arrived at 7:30pm, she said she would arrange a small table for us 2.
