CENTRAL BURGER SHOP — Restaurant in Yokohama

The Central Burger Shop is a must stop. Their Texas Smash burger is in the running for the best burger I’ve had in Japan. The patty was well seasoned and perfectly cooked and it was topped with barbecue sauce, onion rings, and jalapeños. It was so good that my wife and I promptly bagged her pulled pork burrito (it ended up making a great breakfast the next day) and ordered another burger; this time it was the classic smash burger with mushrooms. My family has been here twice, first experience was quite pleasant (4 stars), decent burgers, fries, and onion rings with a small selection of craft beer available.

2nd attempt was not as pleasant. After a day trip to Tokyo we planned to stop here on the way home since hours were listed as open until 10PM, arrived ~9:10 but as soon as we entered we were greeted with a guy walking towards me with his arms crossed in an X. He was so focused on just getting us to leave that I could barely even ask if take-out was an option. I was told last order was at 9PM. The pictures don’t do this place justice. If you’re an American feeling homesick for some comfort food this is definitely the place to go. It’s not exactly the same as a chain or burger place you’d find in the states but that’s because these burgers have their own unique taste as well as the fries. Burgers have a really good sauce that has nice spice to it but isn’t spicy hot. Fries are crunchy outside and soft inside and salted well although personally I like my fries really salty.
