Gyoza no Ohsho or "Ohsho Gyoza" as the locals call it, is the chain I had been hard sleeping on while living here in past years, and perhaps the one which with a verified massive thumbs up, gets me over the line into honorary Nihonjin territory.
The company line reads that the chain restaurant is known for affordable and high-quality Chinese-style food, especially gyoza dumplings. This is a rare instance of "where is the lie?" It's rare to get on without the other, i.e., a really homestyle cooked feed AND a crazy low price tag... even by local standards.
Off rip, first thing I notice is the lack of gloss and glug. The food doesn't have that shine that signifies a layer of oil or grease that has separated from the main dish, and the sauces while some are thick, don't create mush with the ingredients.
The menu gets broken into 2 size brackets for mains and multiple for starters such as the gyoza. This makes variety king and light work of pulling up here with a group. Our damage for 4 mains, a gyoza and a fried rice came to an insane "don't even worry about it" (Check vid / images for the number).
I can't give Ohsho anything under a 10 at thise stage, if I were to score it. A more honest summary is "happiness and repeat reruns" – like those Buffy marathons Fox channel used to run back in the day, sometimes you just want the quickest path to guaranteed satisfaction.

Read moreOther reviews lack specificity that is NEEDED for this location. This chain makes good food, but this location has various issues. For one, it is right next to a very poor neighborhood and many unsanitary day laborers eat here. That alone wouldn't be an issue, however the staff at this location are not very conscious of cleanliness. The 3 times I went here everything I touched felt oily and many things looked dirty. There is often old food on the floors from previous sloppy patrons that hasn't been cleaned for several hours. Additionally, 2 of the 3 times I ate here I felt sick afterwards. The first time it happened I just assumed it was unrelated to my meal, but the very next and final time I went to this location I was down with food poisoning for a...
