Loved our stay! A bit smelly, a bit dirty but you get so much for your money. A fridge and TV in your room. A common kitchen and a rooftop chill area. Stayed for 21 days. The hotel rooms are on the other side of the street while the reception and common room is where the google maps marker is at. The area around the hotel is rich with shops and food. The hotel is extremely run down but you get so much for your money that it did not matter at all. The mattresses are thin but you get used to it. I think we had a balcony, but the smell from outside made us not want to open the window. The rooms smells badly when you turn off the AC for a day or two. We had to buy bad smell killers at the nearby 100 yen Daiso store (which is larger and better than any I have been to). If you don't go to Chinatown there is a normal shopping street about 10min walk with Arcades, Donkihote, 100¥ shops, Coco Ichibanya and a lot more. I did not like Chinatown at all so this other was great. The common bath the hotel recommends is a bit scary but really pleasant as everyone I met with in the bath where heavily tattooed, but they where really social and fun to talk with.
The problem with cheap hotels are that the price tag lures idiots to the hotel. Examples: one hotel guest did not know how to use the shower properly so we had a indoor bath every day for his period of stay, he strutted out from the shower like everything was in order. A girl in the girls bathroom refused to sit down while peeing so during her stay the toilet had pee everywhere. Again, she had the facial expression that this is normal.
Would not recommend this hotel to families with kids.
I loved my stay and I will vist this...
Read moreI had the tatami room, excellent for one person. Everything I needed was there, a small fridge in the room, wifi, a really good shower, washing machine and dryer, and kitchen. This is a hostel and your expectations should be adjusted accordingly, Small TV in room, I never turned it on.||||My room was on the 5th floor (4th floor in Europe) - no lift, so travel light.||||Bring your own towel (To paraphrase Douglas Adams, A towel is about the most massively useful thing an international traveler can have)||||Bring earplugs - hostel located next to a motorway.||||Rooftop garden - dining area on a pleasant day, can also dry clothes||||Plenty of food stores - Lawson and similar convenience stores nearby, My Basket close to Ishikawacho station, Aoba across from the station entrance, Union on Motomachi, and Maruetsu Petit on Yamashitacho. Plus lots of vending machines everywhere which dispense cold and hot drinks.||||Lots of train options. Nearby Ishikawacho with JR trains to Yokohama, Ofuna (change for Kamakura Buddah, Enoshima, Odawara, points west). Minatomirai line at the bottom of Motomachi, and the Yokohama subway right across from the Washington Isezakicho hotel (connects to lots of different lines)||||Men's bathroom was on a different floor.||||The area is a bit seedy and needy, but clean and harmless. Saw one or two strange people, but never heard any shouting etc. Lots of...
Read moreWhat I appreciate most about this place is they accommodated our late arrival. We walked here easily from the Ishikawachō Station with our backpacks and arrived within 15 minutes. ||We were instructed to enter the building across the street from Hostel Village to Hayashi-Kaikan, on the fifth floor. There was a registration form and remote that would alarm the receptionist. A young man practiced his English while telling us that check out time will be 11am, but if you’re early just drop the key in the box. There’s a separate key for the shower but we didn’t end up needing that on our one-night stay. ||The shared bathroom smelled strongly of urinal cakes, better then the alternative though! Very clean. With a sink that’s over the toilet bowl - strange yet efficient.||Our bunk beds were comfortable. The pillow is similar to a sandbag, which was new for me but really nice to sleep on. The comforter was thick and warm, perfect for the cold night. Each bunk had its own lamp and outlets for charging. Small space but just what we needed.||The neighborhood is safe (saw a police car was on patrol) plus young people riding their bikes through the streets. We walked past a karaoke bar and ate at a ramen restaurant, which was delicious and inexpensive.||Totally recommend this hostel for your stay...
