鰻の成瀬 湯布院店 — Restaurant in Yufu

Located just at the beginning of Yunotsubo Kaido (the one furthest from the Yufuin Floral Village). Finally got to eat my favorite Unagi Rice - and this restaurant was great!

You have 3 choices of different types of eels - had the Special version (Matsu) which costs the most naturally, and tried the 1/2 portion (Ume) just to see the difference.

The special version had a firmer texture of the eel, and the meat was definitely more flavorful compared to the regular version which was softer and not as flavorful.

They are a specialized restaurant selling only sell Eel Rice - you have 3 choices of size as well 1/2, 3/4 or full portion. Rice amount is the same for all and you can add more rice for 100¥.

Was planning my itinerary for Yufuin and saw the high ratings for this place! So glad I saved it down for lunch! They sell unagi in 3 sizes (1, 3/4 or 1/2) in either regular, premium and special types. Got the premium and it was very tender, almost melt in your mouth. The owner/chef and staff were very friendly, and the menu was in a few languages which is great! Highly recommend to visit for lunch to whoever visits Yufuin! Unagi rice dish with quite big portion if you order the full eel. Wished there would be some kind of spicy powder to go with it but the dish itself was decent.
