Having frequented this restaurant numerous times, it is my displeasure to have to write a negative review. This morning, we were seated outside for breakfast where none of the outside table umbrellas were opened, though by late morning, the sunshine was already covering most of the dining patio. We politely asked our waitress if she could raise the umbrella. However, she informed us that the winds "in the afternoon" were going to pick-up therefore she couldn't raise it to block the sun (here's where we should have decided to just go inside as it was 0930).
The breeze was pleasant. Therefore, we just decided to enjoy the patio and the views. Shortly after we received our order, a small group of clouds rolled through with sprinkling light rain. The breeze had actually died down from before, so we thought we would once again ask the waitress if she could raise the umbrella so that we could finish our meal. Again, she mentioned the afternoon winds and was absolutely unhelpful as to momentarily applying commonsense and simply raising the umbrella even temporarily while we finished our food. We decided to hurriedly finish our meal and when asked by the cashier if everything was satisfactory, we explained the situation and she was absolutely bewildered. The cashier then called over the onduty manager and explained what happened, and he, too, was equally bewildered, as if we had asked for something impossible to be done.
Not a single person on the staff thought it was even a possibility to have raised the umbrella (again commonsense) or to offer an apology for any inconvenience. Now, it is not my intent to discourage anyone from eating at this restaurant. However, please understand the potential weather conditions before choosing a seating location and understand the "inflexible nature" of the staff at this restaurant in adjusting to any unforseen situation.
(*Language was not a barrier as fluent Japanese was being spoken).
We will personally be taking a break from this restaurant due to our personal experience...
Read moreAlways wanted to come here. But I regret it. Here's why;
I noticed most positive reviews are by non Japanese. You can disregard those.
The ceiling is very mould infested that tracks the ceiling air con units - see photo. It's a mix of blue and black mould that the vents must spread the spores over everyone and the food.
The beer isn't kept In a Cold fridge, it's left on a counter in a bowl of water with ice (see photo). That's ok at the beach when you're making do, but in a restaurant it's unforgivable.
Food is generic low quality beach fare, think Ootoya but applied to burgers and fries.
Staff are busy, unfriendly but efficient.
Other customers are very noisy and all you can hear is a general din with clinking cutlery and the staff clumsily throwing things into drawers and the trash. You cant relax. The room echos other people's noise and generally it feels unpleasant. There is no soft furnishing to take the noise away. Amateur.
Overall, it needs the awful mould problem to be addressed urgently. It is disgusting and I was concerned about my health.
It feels like a big Tokyo corporation is trying to be beach cool but it isn't. It feels generic fake while avoiding quality.
Avoid avoid avoid. Most other restaurants in zushi are better.
Beach view is only nice thing about it. It's the only thing that saved it from a one...
Read moreWe left be this place as it offers a great view, variety of food, and is open early at 7am. We waited eagerly for it to reopen after renovations. While we still enjoy it for many reasons, they have altered some of their menu and increased prices since their renovation but not increased quality. For example, their French toast menu has increased about 200 yen per item, but they no longer serve ice cream with it. They are now serving it with a type of custard and whipped cream that is not nearly as tasty. Additionally, they used to have the best spicy fried chicken basket. They still offer the fried chicken, but without the spicy seasoning. When we asked about it, they brought us the seasoning on the side, but it does not taste the same as when it is fried in with the batter. It also appears they now have a fountain drink machine and are offering watered down drinks with no refills and at an increased price. It would be better to have a drink bar with the machine so that one get refills as they wish versus serving them watered down. They used to serve the coke in a cold glass bottle that you could pour as you wished over ice. Some items like their French onion soup are as delicious as always. Customer service has always been hit or miss here, but the views more than...
