Not my first time here, but unfortunately my last.

We were seated in the glassed terrace and seating was uncomfortable, the atmosphere was very noisy, more of a live bar.

The co-owner/head chef came in to introduce herseld with all her waiters but to realise she came in to aggressively ask us not to smoke Iqos, while the tables behind us were smoking cigars and made our stay unpleasant other than they were loud and vulgar, yet no one from the staff took any action regarding that issue.

We then asked to be moved outside and we did, but we wish it didn't happen. Staff brought us appetisers and disappeared, didn't pass by to check on us. An hour later, no one picked up the finished appetisers and we kept on complaining that the mains are missing and taking too much time. It took 75 minutes between servings appetisers and the main.

Tomahawk steak was rubber, the cat outside couldn't even chew it. Octopus was probably cooked 2 hours earlier as we couldn't cut it using knives, let alone its taste. Gnocchi was tastless, bland and soggy. They said the lamb shank was not available then to our surprise brought us one without asking us if we still want it (we ordered the tomahawk instead of 2 lamb shanks).

We kept on asking for the 'co-owner/head chef' to voice our concern; she disappeared. She passed by the table next to us, looked at us and turned away while we were waiting for the mains. They took no initiative to talk to us or even serve us properly let alone some proper food. First experience during opening was nice and tasteful. This time, money and time not spent well, yet unfortunately wasted for a bad dine out.

Again not my first time here, but...

19 April 2024 update:

I had a chance to take part in one of Dara‘s communal dining experiences. Chef Sara had invited a guest chef for a multicourse meal with cocktail and wine pairings. What a great experience! Not only were the dishes great and the pairings excellent, but having the chance to meet other diners (a very engaging group of Jordanians and expats) added to overall enjoyment of the evening! We even had an extra course and two desserts! There was no coffee at the end of the meal, which is a shame since the coffee is quite good (thanks, I believe, to the thoughtful feedback of a reviewer who shall remain nameless). 🙂

Congratulations and thanks to Chef Sara and her amazing (and very talented) team at Dara!

——— Prior review:

This is one of my favorite places in Amman. The food is consistently good and interesting to figure out all the taste combinations. The wait and bar staff are friendly and attentive. (Although the managers/greeters seem cold and never smile.)

This time I had my first issue…. A cappuccino that had a soapy taste so I didn’t drink it. I let the waiter know. He thanked me for my feedback and charged me for it. 😳🤣 I told the manager who said they’d take care of it “next time”. I have no idea what that means or how it would work but the food is great —so there will be a...

“The Wine 101 course at Dara Dining was an extraordinary and transformative experience! Over the course of four weeks, I gained a deeper appreciation for the art and science of wine, all thanks to the incredible guidance of Lana and Lara. These two exceptionally talented instructors brought an unmatched passion and expertise to every session, making even the most complex topics accessible and exciting.

Their ability to create a perfect balance between education and enjoyment was truly remarkable. Each week, we explored a variety of topics, from the nuances of different grape varietals to the art of food and wine pairing, all while sampling some of the most exquisite wines. Lana and Lara’s engaging teaching style, coupled with their genuine warmth and enthusiasm, fostered an atmosphere that was both inspiring and welcoming.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone looking to refine your wine knowledge, this course is an absolute must. Wine 101 at Dara Dining is more than just a class—it’s an unforgettable journey into the world of wine, led by two extraordinary professionals who make every moment a joy. Highly,...

If Dara Dining is not on your list of restaurants to try this year, then you're missing out! I've had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant yesterday, and was welcomed by Chef Sara herself who kindly explained the restaurant's concept and showed me around. I was later welcomed by the resto manager Sameeh who was thoughtful enough to share his list of recommended dishes, and trust me, they all tasted delicious!! Must Try: - Batata with basal - Vitello Tonnato - Double Cappelletti - From East To West Cannolis - Sage Iced Tea * A special shoutout to the entire team for being on top of things, making sure to explain thoroughly what was inside every dish, sharing their recommendations, and checking up on me every once in a while - truly a wonderful experience. Will definitely make sure to try out other dishes next year, Chef Sara sure knows her flavors!!!!

I recently dined at Dara, and I must say, the whole chicken was absolutely delightful. What sets them apart is their commitment to using every part of the chicken, ensuring nothing goes to waste. The sauce accompanying the chicken was a revelation, truly out of this world. We also indulged in their cacio e pepe, which was a perfect blend of creaminess and simplicity. It hit all the right notes. For dessert, the olive oil cake was a light and delectable treat, a delightful end to the meal. But what truly stole the show was the tetas rice pudding. It was nothing short of heavenly. Every spoonful was an exquisite experience, and I could hardly get enough. Dara is a culinary gem, and I can't wait to return for another mouthwatering experience.
