I have been in Jordan for a number of years and believe I have tried all the steakhouses. Without a doubt, Salt is the best - the ultimate in steaks! The steaks are juicy, tender, and loaded with flavor. The savory super prime ribeye is my favorite but I would also recommend the super prime tenderloin. While the steaks and sides are filling, I would still suggest trying the appetizers like beef tartare and seared foie gras. Salt is one of the very few places I feel safe eating and would recommend the raw beef (tartare).
Overall, the service is very good. I have visited Salt half a dozen times and have been met with great service but truth be told there is a difference between great and outstanding. Khaled is usually our server but a couple of times he has forgotten things like bread and asking us if we want wine refills. These are negligible in the overall presentation. We've had Habiba twice and she was outstanding. We never had to remind her of anything and she was always on her "A" game.
The clientele was a mix of Fairmont guests and locals but primarily business folks and local couples. I've always thought that a restaurant must be pretty good if locals frequent it.
Of all the 5* hotels, the Fairmont has the best restaurants in Amman and Salt is a...
Read moreMy husband and I ordered the Chef’s beef platter (Medium) and the steaks were cooked to perfection. They informed that the steaks would take 20mins and we didn’t really mind cause the place was beautiful, so we took lots of photos while waiting.
Although they almost forgot our drinks (we ordered the Strawberry & passion fruit mocktails), they were so refreshing! Didn’t really mind the wait to be honest.
The complimentary sourdough bread with 3 types of butter was absolutely amazing! They served these early but we wanted to wait til our steaks arrived to try everything together. The combination of everything is insane!
We also had 2 desserts (additional 15-20mins of waiting): chocolate fondant with ice cream and creme brulee. We enjoyed both desserts.
Safe to say that this experience gave us a major food coma (in a good way of course!)
Everything was well worth the money and we appreciate the friendly staff (especially our server Odai) for the excellent service.
Valet parking is free if you show the restaurant your valet ticket.
This place is highly recommended, and we will definitely go...
Read moreThe food was bad, absolutely a JD 270 regret. The usher lady wasn’t happy being there. She brought us two plates but didn’t pour either. The service is bad. The waiters are polite but not a single water refill for a 1.5 hour stay. The complimentary bread was barely warm. The fresh juices (orange and lemon were worse than the ones you’d get at a random street vendor). Lets start with the salad, its mediocre and is the best we’ve had put on the table which in of itself a disaster since this is a steak house.. we got two lobster dishes one was with rice, the other was a soup. The soup looked like its been eaten from and the temperature is COLD, not even lukewarm with fat separation, meaning its been sitting for a good MINUTE. The carmelized onion soup is more of a burnt onion disaster. Finally, the three steaks we got. The supposedly medium well Wagyu (the best they can offer; and its in the right photo) came in RARE. The tenderloin which was meant to be well done came in medium well, and finally the ribeye which we didn’t even bother eating from. (ALL STEAKS WERE BELOW WARM IN...
