Oyster Bay — Restaurant in Nairobi

Service was extremely terrible here. I visited this place yesterday with a friend (it was her birthday so wanted to treat her to a nice dinner) but it ended up being a disaster of an evening! After food, we had drinks and I got up to speak to a waitress to order a slice of cake without my friend noticing and I’ve clearly explained to the waitress that it was my friend’s birthday and if they could bring the slice of cake with candle or something, the waitress says okay and forgets about this slice of cake order for nearly 2 hours (Absolutely ridiculous) then when I remind another waitress that we’ve ordered cake, she then comes to our table and says infront of my friend (the birthday girl) that they are just waiting for the candle/sparkler (ruined the surprise because my friend thought we were just waiting for dessert at this point until the waitress ruined the surprise by letting her know a cake is coming with a candle/sparkler) I then got frustrated because at this point there’s no point for no sparkler or cake, next time I know it’s best to go to a proper functioning place with great service because this isn’t it. I then asked to speak to a manager about what just happened and they didn’t want to call the manager, so they called this guy who claimed to be the supervisor and he didn’t even acknowledge nor did anything about this. I left disappointed so my family, friends and I won’t ever be coming back here again. (SO HAVE ALL THIS IN MIND BEFORE TAKING SOMEONE SPECIAL HERE FOR A...

My friends & I had lunch here yesterday and while the food was well presented and tasted good, we woke up to terrible stomach problems today, indicating severe food poisoning. Besides this, good customer service was notably lacking and we had to keep requesting the waiter to clear the table of dirty/used dishes rather than him doing it proactively. They placed candles on the table in a failed attempt to get rid of a swarm of bees that visited the table as a result of the hot toddies that we’d ordered containing honey. We spent a considerable amount of time & energy trying to avoid the bees for fear of stinging! By the way, they didn’t even bother to take the plastic label off the candles, resulting in a terrible burning smell. They also haven’t clearly demarcated the seating areas for smokers & non-smokers and we were inundated with smoke from shisha smokers on nearby tables! Lastly, the entire set up of the booths in this restaurant is highly hazardous to its patrons. To enter a booth and sit down, one has to jump over aluminum bars and there are also uneven steps that are unmarked. Unfortunately my friend missed a step (while sober!!) went tumbling down & hit his head on the edge of the clay vase of a potted plant. Luckily he did not sustain any major injury. Terrible experience all in all especially for a restaurant...

Great place, mostly restaurant type at the heart of Valley Arcade, with lots of parking and good vibes. The brand says fine dining but that is disputable! The food is good for sure. I am not so sure about the "fine" part when the toilets are not inside the premises and one has to walk out for awhile to get there or the ambience and just overall feel of the place is what it is!

My friend had the lamb shank confit and I had wings, the food was fantastic with great presentation. The waiter recommended the shank and my friend was not disappointed, the wings were also great. The shank order was timely, but my wings took forever to come, and when they did, arrived cold and needed to be reheated.

For the cocktails, I had Black panther and my pal had a classic mojito. We needed ghe drinks augmented, mine did not have alcohol and my friends was bitter. They fixed this pronto, which is fantastic.

I would definitely go back, but be very selective about where I sit, music from the downstairs place-Ozone, is just too loud and we could smell strong smell of raw meat. You want to sit on the tail end of the terrace facing the trees!

But this place is NOT FINE DINING for sure!
