Taverna Prishtina e Vjetër — Restaurant in Pristina

This was genuinely one of the greatest restaurant experiences I’ve had on any of my travels. Do not be put off by the small restaurant or the fact there is only 5 tables. We walked in and we were greeted with such a nice, welcoming owner who asked where we were from and he chatted to us.

There is no menu, but that’s ok because the owner came and showed us what he had available and suggested what he could cook for us. My wife is vegetarian and that was ok, there was a salad option.

We got a huge, lovely, fresh salad of tomato, onion, carrot, cabbage and cheese. I got some merguez type sausages. The salad and sausages were really nice, but then best it was the bread. Wow!! Such nice, fresh, hot bread. Genuinely the best bread I’ve ever had!

We had a beer and a local rakija to finish the meal and chatted to the owner.

This was so cheap. If we had been charged twice as much as we were charged, it would have been good value.
