Gandhi Indian Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Bishkek City

AVOID! Not worth your money! Ordered a vegetarian curry with green peas, which were still hard and rather uncooked. Curry Sauce was underwhelming. What is rather unusual is that - in opposite to what was told us before ordering on asking- is that rice must be paid extra and is NOT included in the curry. Absolutely OVERPRICED for a subpar experience. My wife had a „Biryani“ which was rather a dry rice with way too much Cinnamon seasoning. Really never had such a bad Biryani. My advice is we had better places in Bishkek. Go to the „Host“, not cheaper but food is there is at least worth the money, where you DONT pay extra for rice. They claim to have the best Indian restaurant in Town. When we came the restaurant was EMPTY. I THINK THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! We were genuinely disappointed with the food here. Overall the food was very bland despite requesting medium to spicy. Even without a good spice level the flavours were lacking. The panipuri was decent and the traditional chicken curry did have a bit of flavour but was largely forgettable. My wife's methi muttar paneer was terrible. It literally tasted of nothing and the texture was very gluppy, the paneer was not true paneer. The side of rice was also undercooked. My gut feeling is that the food here is tailored to local tastes and it is not at all authentic Indian cusine, which can be found elsewhere in Bishkek. However, what truly caught me off guard was when the bill revealed a charge of 448 som (over $5) for a bottle of sparkling mineral water. This was significantly more expensive than the other items on the menu.

Now, I understand that I should have asked the price first, but I never imagined a bottle of sparkling water would be that expensive. The staff told me that customers were happy to pay this price for “proper” water.
