I wanted to like LA Café, badly. Whatever you do, stay away from ordering sandwiches on a baguette 🥖. That supposed baguette is among the worst I have had in my life...it was dry, stale and chewy in a bad way. I had an egg sandwich in the baguette and I Just couldn't finish it, the baguette bread was that bad. Also stay clear of the croissant 🥐. It is not a real croissant, but a cheap white bread in the shape of a half moon. No real butter, no flakiness..just pure chewiness that reminds me of Subway's yoga matt infused breads. Yikes. Other than that I had an Angus beef sandwich the night before in its original panini bread, and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef was tender and juicy, the panini bread was delicious, toasted on the outside and soft inside My advice to the owners, stick to what you do well and eliminate breads (French from what I know) that are subpar. I included a picture of LA Cafe's excellent Panini

The Salmon Tacos were good but i didn't get to try the mango salsa because it was out of stock. The steak tacos are really good. The customer service was great. They have a restroom available for customers only but a person went in last night. We were waiting for 10 to 12 minutes. We decided to leave. I didn't see the tables being wipe down just plates being removed. I am mentioning this because it Downtown LA so, homeless people will sit down and ask for money then eat off left over food from plates. With viruses travel around just one purell hand sanitizer won't cut it. Washing tables after customer leave will help. There are four seats available inside the restaurant. They weren't wipe down after customer were done eating. But again last night a guy was taking up two seats reading, with a backpack, a sleeping bag and backpack. But, he had his foot on resting on the other sit.

I had their tuna melt a long time ago and it was delish. My ultra nice co-worker, who recently promoted, treated us to sandwiches ordered for delivery from here. It's been a while since I have had anything from LA Café so I had her order for me. She got me the lobster and cheese panini. The sandwich was still warm when it arrived. Being that it was delivered, the bread was already soft. It would be awesome to eat it on site as I know it would be toasted outside and soft in the middle. It's a big sandwich, thankfully it was cut in half. I felt full with just the half. We also got a bag of kettle fried chips- my fave. This cafe is located on the busy Spring St. of DTLA, it's a small cafe with nice employees. They offer delivery within a 3 mile radius, which most of the employees from our company take advantage of. Delivery driver was nice.

The employees are very nice but a little hard of hearing (not trying to be rude). Maybe turn the music down a bit? Every time I come in I have to yell my order and repeat myself more than twice. I’ve gotten donuts in the past and they are good but a little overpriced in my opinion. I was a little disappointed in their “big plate” of seared salmon. The portions are not big. There is more veggies than anything. The salmon was good, but a little bland, have had and made a lot better. It was cut into nuggets (?) which caught me off guard lol. The mashed potatoes were actually my favorite part of this plate. Their Thai tea though is definitely amazing. One of my favorites for sure. There is always a line when I stop by, but the wait isn’t long at all! Small front house area that feels a little cramped at times, with little seating outside.

I hesitated for a moment before going in because I thought it was a bigger cafe. The pictures are a bit misleading. Unfortunately there are hardly any seats inside. The menu is very big, I had a vegan scrambler and a latte. Really delicious. Very friendly staff too. I'll definitely go back again during my vacation. The second time I've been there, I ordered the breakfast sausage. Since this is marked with "VA" it means, that you can order it as vegan. I'm still not sure if they made it vegan. If so: the egg and the cheese looked and tasted really authentic. Also the tater tots, not sure what was in there, but its consistency and the taste were pretty much the same as fish sticks.. So for vegans: maybe ask twice that it's vegan; for the LA Café: if it was vegan, it was amazing!!
