The only reason I’m giving this place a star is because of the wonderful women at the host stand They are extremely kind & welcoming. Visually the food & restaurant is beautiful !! Our hostess accommodated our needs for a table in an area we loved in the back. However the waitress gave the bare minimum in terms of customer service I worked first as a host then waitress eventually to be promoted to a trainer / shift lead & bartender in fine dining for almost a decade until I got signed to a modeling agency. I could have done 1000x better on my worst day than her she seemed mostly indifferent the whole time serving us apart from maybe one or two smiles towards the end. We had been sat and waited a while to even bring us waters or introduce herself. apparently she’s the head trainer which is very telling. All the other staff who came and checked on our table were wayyy more friendly than her she seemed like she frankly didn’t care to be there and honestly just disingenuous and disinterested with our table. Also our steaks were extremely salty and frankly the sauce was bitter and way to much Worcestershire sauce I tasted like lol expensive steak seasoned terribly even two other waitresses said the steaks are way too salty and one stating that we didn’t hear it from her she was funny and sweet💀 we ate our food considering how hungry we were and didn’t want to wait on ordering again or even giving our waitress feedback due to her off puttting demeanor which I will definitely take accountability for we should have said we didn’t like it but I was already over it at that point had decided to just tough it out . So we politely ate our food and paid our bill. But after discussing further we simply just wanted to give feedback to the management. A wonderful pregnant manager woman came over and was very polite heard our concerns and kindly asked what she could do to remedy our experience and offered gift cards we gladly accepted and then she offered instead of gift cards to just refund our steaks which was perfect so we agreed. Then the GM comes over who was a man and asks to sit with us and discuss what happened we tell him and he says the waiter is upset and that she feels she was attentive and that if we didn’t like the food why did we eat it and why are we taking it to go !! LOL TO GIVE TO A HOMELESS PERSON OUTSIDE OR MY DOG. Then continued to say well it’s just funny how we didn’t like it but wanted to take it togo repeatedly & say the waitress was his head trainer which is honestly disappointing but I digress…. Furthermore the GM than decides to refund our whole meal after basically interrogating us and making it seem as we were just trying to get a free meal when that was never even the issue we literally paid our meal and just wanted to make a complaint lol I think the takeaway here is that the food is less than mid & when a customer voices a complaint snarky comments from a general manager is extremely unprofessional and a head trainer who has a borderline obviously fake demeanor is not good for clientele or rep-ore for a restaurant upon reading other reviews this is a common theme here 🤷♀️ I have never left a bad review before I am very much an optimist and actually hate confrontation but the general manager was the cherry on top for me I will never be coming back to this establishment and will definitely be spreading the word to steer clear of Joey’s Dtla ! The Woodland Hills location is much much much better 🫣& not to mention I have acid reflux still this morning from eating the...
Read moreIts very difficult to find anything positive about this experience, other than the spaghetti was ok. We went there to celebrate our daughter's University graduation; she was still in her graduation regalia. We went there because my daughter had been there before and got a good burger. We got there around 9:30 and it was busy being told there was a 40 minute wait for a table. That was fine so we waited. They handed us a glass of pretty bad champagne, but its free so who complains.
They collected us in 20 minutes and put us in a corner booth and we thought it was our lucky night and they were being nice to the new graduate. We ordered appetizers and drinks. About 10 minutes later they came and told us they seated us in the reservation only table and they would need to move us. We asked about this and were told there was a table of 7 who needed the table. We suggested that 7 wouldn't fit in this table, maybe 5.
If my daughter wasn't starving, we would have left. We moved to a high top table about 8 feet from the original table. The took our order about 5 minutes later. The manager tried to come over and smooth things over by giving us more bad Champagne (which we didn't drink) and offered free desert.
about 15 minutes later they brought 3 guests to the table we had been sitting in. I disagreed when my daughter suggested the restaurant discriminating against us (my wife and daughter are ethnically Asian) as that didn't make sense in LA. Still don't know why they lied about the size of the replacement group. And funny that our appetizers and drinks were delivered to the wrong old table and had to be redirected to our new seats
About 10 minutes later they took the order of the replacement guests. The new guests were served about 20 minutes later and took their time to eat their food. They finished eating while we were still waiting for out order to be served. At that point we asked how our order was going. They said there was just one item being prepared. 10 minutes later we got our food. There was only one other group seated at a table by that time in a restaurant that was crowded when we arrived. We don't understand why we were served sooo late and were generally treated with disrespect. I am sure they could tell we weren't happy, but we didn't behave or say anything to deserve such poor treatment.
My spaghetti was a little too al dente, but the sauce was tasty. My daughter's burger was a dash of meat on 2 buns and not tasty; nothing like she got the previous time there. My wife's Sea Bass was also not very good. Even the Cheese Cake my wife ordered was soft and bland.
I have to say that the atmosphere may have been spoiled by everthing else going on. It was loud, crowded. and dimly lit, but lively when we arrived.
We started the night on such a high after my daughter's commencement ceremony only for it to be completely ruined by the poor treatment at...
Read morePretty busy for the most part with a great bar. Customer service/bartenders are great and the crowd is a little upscale, but always fun to hang at. This review is a compilation of entrees I’ve tried so it constantly gets updated after every visit.
Their drinks are great & their “Old Fashion” is excellent. & my friend had their chicken sandwich. He said it was high quality. Looking forward to a meal in the future.
I recommend the guacamole corn & chips and the Korean Fried Cauliflower is my new favorite. I tried the Lobster ravioli with the garlic bread, 7 oz steak medium rare and it was the best dish I’ve had there so far. Their protein wrap burger is delicious, I added a salad instead of fries. Seared salmon sushi is phenomenal, just wish they had Sweet Eel sauce.
The Cobb salad is excellent and sushi wrap too! Highly recommend both. The steak and lobster was a great combo, but the steak was about average to above average. The donut with ice cream is solid!
The Indian butter chicken is phenomenal along with the thick cut garlic bread. Both go really well with each other. The warm Apple pie with ice cream is phenomenal and is probably my favorite dessert here. It was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy/warm Apple pieces with an amazing flaky crust.
Now the Chilean seabass is probably my favorite entree so far. Cooked perfectly, super tender & it was delicious. The chicken lettuce wraps are also great, crispy delicious chicken pieces with phenomenal sauce/flavor. The crème brûlée cheesecake is also pretty phenomenal too.
update I recommend the “Daou Reserve” but they only sell it by the bottle. Excellent wine to pair with your meal.
Also the bartender suggest to get the chicken lettuce wraps with double chicken and no wontons. It was a phenomenal post workout meal! To go is great option also through a Door Dash link they sent you through text, using their automated system over the phone.
Their chicken Katsu salad was pretty darn good. Wish had more sauce for the chicken but it was cooked perfectly. The new pork chop is phenomenal!
Update I think I’ve been here a good amount of times for the past two years and the customer service here has always been excellent, mainly at the bar area.
Ruby has usually been a standout, she’s been phenomenal and she has always ensured a comfortable and delicious dining experience. Also want to mention the other outstanding bartenders Alejandra, Alexandra, Rob, & Elena. Missing a few more but most have been awesome. Great to call this my favorite local neighborhood restaurant.
Also as for security, Larry & Justin have been great ensuring our safety...
