Skip this place 💔
We came to this restaurant because we've been here a few years back and had a good experience, but this time it was very bad. Either they have big problems with their staff, maybe a conflict, or nobody is managing this place, the waiters are not motivated to come to the table, and I'm not mentioning about being nice or making you feel welcome - that's not existant. We came to sit at the patio - there were not enough chairs but nobody attended for 10 minutes to help or to give menus. Later the waitress brought 2 menus for 5 people. After that, we waited 20 minutes to order and actually asked her if we can order. She came in, took the order, but wasn't welcoming, and had been sort of angry or sad, which made us feel guilty (lol) but we get it, maybe it's a hard weekend for her or whatever. Therefore we waited in total 90mins since we came to the place until we got the food, not informed about the long waiting time, even though there were not too many people and there was another couple which came after us but received the food first. Coming back to the waiter, she was, I would say, disrespectful and had a negative attitude. If that's a bad weekend for her, I don't care, but if that's how she serves clients everyday, this work is not for her. Her name was Evelina. Bangert's had a good restaurant going a few years ago, but it's time for some changes guys or you're on a way to close, because there will open restaurants that at least respect their clients and create positive atmosphere for people spending their holidays or...
Read moreWe were really disappointed with our recent visit to this restaurant. We checked both the restaurant’s website and Google Maps beforehand, which stated that it was open until 10pm. When we arrived at 8:20pm, we were immediately told by a waitress that only dessert was available. She curtly informed us the restaurant actually closed at 9pm, and when we pointed out the discrepancy with the online hours, her response was, “I’m not responsible for what’s written on the website.” She shared that no other restaurants would be open or serving at this hour.
After some back-and-forth and her checking with the kitchen, she confirmed they could still make anything from the menu, so we stayed. Unfortunately, her attitude didn’t improve. She was visibly unfriendly, and seemed annoyed both when asking follow up questions about the menu and when looking for the bathroom. We were made to feel very unwelcome.
The food itself was fine - nothing to rave about but edible - and the interior was nicely done, which made it all the more disappointing that the service left such a negative impression. It felt like we were an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. We won’t...
Read moreA real hidden gem. By hidden is understood not that it is hard to spot (very near to the bridge), but actually that there are a lot of places in Kuldiga to sit and enjoy the views and this one is a perfect find. We were 4 people during our dinner, dinner was spectacularly delicious, literally everything tasted heavenly: beef cheeks - superb, lamb steak - perfectly both cooked and tasted, Caesar salad - subtle and great, snacks (cheese plate) - awesome. Moreover - place brews great coffee! Most of the time to get great coffee you need to go to the narrow-specialized coffee shop, but search no more - this double espresso I had was one of the best this year! Personnel is friendly with a good sense of humor. Place is large and spacious, read that also they organize live music on the second floor. Really, I was not expecting this place to be that good. Desert (strawberry soup) was an amazing finish to our dinner, for which by the way (4 people) we paid 66 EUR (in total), which is a great value for money! A definite worth-visit again...
