If you are a fan of Asian food, search no more ! Doudou is the place to be!!
The place is a hidden gem on sassine square, good thing that you can park right in front of it. The ambience is very chill, calm and refreshing thanks to the really neat interior decoration of the place.
The service was very good, not very fast but indeed professional, we were served by the manager of the place, which made us feel even more welcome and taken care of.
As for the food, we decided to try some appetizers at first which were the Panko shrimp and the Panko chicken, deep fried crispy proteins that you can dip into 6 different sauces that were served to us, all of them really delicious, but the secret sauce was my favorite, too bad i couldn’t know exactly whats inside haha! I liked the chicken more than the shrimp as it had more flavor.
Also the shrimp dynamite was recommended and it was very good, drenched in yummy sweet sauce and presented in a very nice red cabbage leaf!
As for the noodles, we got 2 bowls for 4 persons as the portion is on the generous side. The Seafood noodles were good, I did not like the crab pieces on top because they were the imitation crab sticks but other than that it was amazing, thick noodles, not soggy and very tasty.
And now, the STAR OF THE SHOW!! Doudou’s crispy duck!! This is a super duper nice item they got and probably the best thing I tasted during my experience. The marinated pieces of duck breast were medium cooked and they had a crispy outer skin that you would die for! The sauce that you add on it is soooo good, it has a side of sweetness and bitterness at the same time, and its more thick than runny, I just loved it. you can eat the duck either alone of with the flat bread served with it.
To wrap it up, we had some Toffee banana, caramelized fried pieces of banana served with chocolate and vanilla icecream, YUMMII! It was my first time tasting fried fruits and I simply loved it.
I would recommend Doudou, im sure that it would fulfil you cravings and make you come...
Read moreWe were a group of four people who decided to give this place a try since we heard good things about it. Unfortunately the experience was nothing short of disastrous. Not only did the food lack any flavor (our order mainly consisted of vegetable noodles, sweet and sour shrimps, cashew chicken, and garlic ginger rice), but we also got food poisoned literally minutes after stepping out of the restaurant (we ate and stayed there for an hour or so). This couldn't have been due to anything that we ate beforehand, because the four of us didn't meet all week except on that table, so it must have been something that we ordered from that specific restaurant. Later that day, we called the restaurant to complain about what happened, and the manager promised us he'd call the next day after investigating the issue, claiming that they only serve fresh vegetables. I am writing this review exactly 24 hours after our call with the manager ended, so I'm guessing he won't be revealing his investigation to us anytime soon. Can't say I'm shocked. Long story short, if you are craving Chinese food and want to give this restaurant a try, please do so at your own risk. They don't have electricity running 24/7. We came to their place at 5PM and they themselves requested that we come again at 5:30PM because that's when they have electricity. In hindsight, that should have been the clearest sign that we should have went to a different place altogether. I understand that our current economic situation in the country makes it difficult for restaurants to maintain their food quality with such shortage in electricity, but serving people spoiled food is not an excuse no matter what the circumstance are. I definitely don't recommend this place, and won't be stepping back into it anytime soon. I sincerely advise anybody reading this to call any restaurant, be it this one or another, and ask about their electricity situation before trying their food. Lesson learned from my end, and I hope somebody out there finds...
Read moreWe enjoyed a delightful lunch at Dou Dou Chinese restaurant, nestled in a peaceful corner of Monot Street. After parking our car on the street, we strolled through this charming neighborhood.
The restaurant exuded a lovely Chinese ambiance, enhanced by soothing background music. The staff members were welcoming, and the service was both efficient and prompt.
To kick off our meal, we started with vegetable spring rolls (2 pieces) and shrimp dumplings (5 pieces). For our main course, Beef Mongolian and kung pao chicken, accompanied by sides of fried rice and vegetable noodles, and a Big bottle of water.
The prices were reasonable, totaling $50 for 2 persons. The restaurant treated us to a complimentary dessert.
The food, in terms of taste, quality, and portion size, met our expectations but didn't quite make a remarkable impression. To sum it up, our experience at Dou Dou Chinese restaurant was still quite enjoyable and we...
