A rococo French cuisine restaurant in downtown Beirut. I went there on a winter lunch with a friend, it was very cold and rainy, yet they had a beautiful heated terrace seating area overlooking the streets, I am sure in the spring/summer this terrace would be even nicer. L'avenue is situated right in the heart of Downtown Beirut central district, and 300m away from Beirut Souks. The reception is nice, the seating and services were elegant. This is a considerably expensive restaurant, and you get what you expect from an upscale restaurant of this caliber. I ordered crispy shrimps and my friend ordered Escargots in Garlic and Parsley Butter for starters, both were very delicious and delightful. Then I had Thai shrimps and my friend had Sole fish as main course, my dish was delicious and pungent with a hint of coconut, adorned with Nigella sativa (black seed) with turmeric spiced rice on the side. It was tasteful. My friend's sole was nicely presented before taking it back for deboning. and later plated with mashed potatoes on the side and lemon butter sauce. We had Vanilla Crème Brûlée and fruits with ice cream for desserts. The overall experience was pleasurable and gracious. and service was very elegant. prices were very high, but as expected. If you are planning to luxuriate, this is a good location, not so lavish...
Read moreI visit this place every time i come to Lebanon, mostly monthly, but this time i had a ver bad experience. We ordered a potato soup and we emphasized if the texture is creamy or not and the waiter confirmed that the soup has no creamy texture, but when we received the order we were surprised to find that the soup is sooo creamy ! The waiter was still trying to convince us that no cream was used to prepare the soup but unfortunately it was ! As for the Australian angus steak, it came in a small portion i think around 100 grms, it was supposed to be medium well, but we had it well done ! To end up this mess they withdrew twice from our card and we hd to ask for the reason to get the answer that this is happening to all cardholders, they withdrew twice and later the amount will go back to card. I used to love this place but...
Read moreNot sure what the fuzz is about. Came here for dinner with my wife and a couple of friends and the best i can say about the food is that the plates are well presented. The taste however is really not up to the expectations. Gratin Dauphinois was over powered with Garlic. To the extent that i couldn’t eat it it. The filet steak was average and the side of mashed potatoes was tastless. The entrée dish of cuisse de grenouille was really average. Tasted more like chicken. The comments to the waiter didn’t serve much either... summary: first and last visit after such a...
