The only major restaurant disappointment I had while in Beirut. When a Japanese restaurant resorts to Filipino staff (with all due respect to Filipinos) you know that they focus more on looks than authenticity. Waiters chewing food while roaming and carelessly taking orders, not to mention attitude. But most importantly the food... it was awful and I have no clue what the other reviews are on about. As a Japanese cuisine enthusiast I can tell you that this was a complete waste of my appetite and money. I was seated on the Chef counter, with the split unit AC dripping on the bar, the chef repeating the same items on the supposedly "tailored experience", and the fish quality being very average. From disbelief we even ordered Maki on the side which was drenched in a sauce that they seem to put on everything to hide the mediocre ingredients used. Common guys! You're in Beirut, the city of top end cuisine and service. Get with the program! Sorry to be harsh but your prices don't match your quality and you are operating in a highly...

Once you step in that small restaurant, you re immediately taken by the japanese feel and setup. Waitresses are dressed in traditional japanese clothes, and the head chef is japanese.

the employees will pamper you and make sure you are having a wonderful time.

They have a wide selection of spirits and wines. My pick when i go there is always sake.

Mitsu-ya will not serve any cheap cuts of fish, and this is why it is more expensive than other sushi restaurants. However i still think it is overpriced, and be careful since their prices are VAT excluded which is something i always forget about when im there.

About the taste, this place really took my palette to another world, and i will never forget the time i ordered their seared fatty tuna sushi.

A mesmerizing experience, the piece of fish just melted in my mouth.

In my opinion, a good place for...

It was a new level of Japanese food. I have never tasted anything like this before. I can't find the words to describe what i ate. You might find it overpriced but you pay for quality and service. Our waitress Rola was super nice, I have never met a waitress so informative and who knows what she's talking about like she does. Everything we ordered was her choice and we did not regret it. All the ingredients were fresh. The wasabi was not synthetic we also got to see the machine that makes the wasabi. The restaurant offered us a complimentary dish: sushi roll made of baby shrimp wrapped in a seaweed . They have a lot of variety such as sushi, udon noodles, grilled dishes and cold dishes. They also have an option to eat what the chef prepares for you, he might prepare something out...

Don't get me wrong. I really like it but the fact that I went with the chef's selection on the bar made me not put it as 5 stars all the way. A la carte menu is great. They tell you it's the only real Japanese and it's very true. Ingredients are of highest quality, incredibly tasty. Service is just wow! Amazing. Cheerful. Friendly. Rien a dire. However I recently went for the chef's menu and was disappointed. U don't know what you're going to get. And we got mainly sushi pieces. So much rice. This is the problem. Not much variety and though we liked it at first, ultimately too many sushi pieces. For the price we paid, we definitely expected better. Next time we go back to a la carte for sure. Thumbs up still overall

Mitsu-ya is a high-quality Japanese restaurant with a diverse and innovative menu satisfying all your taste buds. They use fresh seafood and sushi-grade salmon and tuna. We ordered nabe yaki udon noodles, grilled octopus, and tartar of the house, and they were all excellent. I recommend finishing your outing by getting one of their tasty desserts, especially the homemade ice-creams.
