The only major restaurant disappointment I had while in Beirut. When a Japanese restaurant resorts to Filipino staff (with all due respect to Filipinos) you know that they focus more on looks than authenticity. Waiters chewing food while roaming and carelessly taking orders, not to mention attitude. But most importantly the food... it was awful and I have no clue what the other reviews are on about. As a Japanese cuisine enthusiast I can tell you that this was a complete waste of my appetite and money. I was seated on the Chef counter, with the split unit AC dripping on the bar, the chef repeating the same items on the supposedly "tailored experience", and the fish quality being very average. From disbelief we even ordered Maki on the side which was drenched in a sauce that they seem to put on everything to hide the mediocre ingredients used. Common guys! You might find it overpriced but you pay for quality and service. Our waitress Rola was super nice, I have never met a waitress so informative and who knows what she's talking about like she does. Everything we ordered was her choice and we did not regret it. All the ingredients were fresh. The wasabi was not synthetic we also got to see the machine that makes the wasabi. The restaurant offered us a complimentary dish: sushi roll made of baby shrimp wrapped in a seaweed . They have a lot of variety such as sushi, udon noodles, grilled dishes and cold dishes. They also have an option to eat what the chef prepares for you, he might prepare something out...
