My daughter and I stopped here beneath the iconic angel statue and found ourselves drawn in by the charm of high top tables with swinging seats. We ordered a coke and local wine. It felt instantly inviting and a little whimsical. We settled in to enjoy what turned out to be some of the best people watching on our trip. From the steady rhythm of unique cars passing through to the calm and kind presence of the locals, the atmosphere carried an ease that is hard to find elsewhere. We had the good fortune of meeting a well known local regular, Tomazo, who went out of his way to extend a gesture of kindness that made the experience even more personal. (I regret not asking for a picture with him) It was the sort of moment that stays with you when traveling. The food was equally memorable. We tried the fried garlic bread and stuffed baked potatoes, two dishes we did not expect but both delicious! Dipping the garlic bread into the cheese was a pairing we did not plan on but will not forget. This spot blends relaxed charm with an authentic sense of place. Between the welcoming spirit, the simple outstanding food, swinging seats at the iconic angel statue, this stop is well worth the 26€. There was also a clean...
Read moreBe ready for disappointment if you go here. We came there with my family for dinner, wine and coffee. The waiter was very pleasant. Wines were warm and have been opened for a while, judging on the flavour. I asked for his recommendation on the main course, he suggested chefs fish special, so I decided to take that. My husband had a prime cut beef. Beef was clearly precooked as it has no juices as a fresh stake should and was dry and chewy. My fish was mushy to the touch and had a funky odour. I tasted one bite and decided that I don't want to take a risk, asked the waiter to take it away. The cherry on the top was the managers take on this situation. She came with my plate, put it in from of my place and proudly said that their fish cannot be bad BECAUSE it is frozen, and if I didn't like it it is on me, because I am just cheap and don't want to pay for what I get. I think these days no self respecting restaurant would praise their frozen fish, or would have the special made of it. The manager was extremely rude, not only we had to pay for a full bill, but didn't get an apology or even a complimentary coffee. The only reason this restaurant is open is their location. Prices and quality...
Read moreThe service was good and everything was fine until we got our food: my filet mignon was very clearly cooked earlier and now just warmed up to order, possibly in the microwave. I could easily notice it from the stale surface (freshly fried meat has a crispy surface) and the fact that not a droplet of meat juice ran out. Dry and tasteless. Brandy sauce was missing and the side was just a pile of grated carrot and salad. my wife's fish had a bad odour and one little bite revealed a foul taste as well. When she said she wanted to return the dish, the waitresses said that it cannot be bad because it was frozen and just recently thawed. What a bad excuse, and it is sad that a restaurant uses frozen fish. They accused us of just wanting a discount which does not make any sense. We ended up paying the full price. one male waiter was very helpful and polite all the way through, which was the only positive experience also the rose wine...
