I went in this place with my friends and we booked a table 3 days earlier, because the place was very small and we were 8 people. So a table at 19:30 for 8 people. We arrived there on time and they told us "Oh, sorry, this big table here was supposed to be yours, but these people are here from 17 and they continue to order food and drinks. Could you come maybe in an hour?” and I immediately said “No. Or you give us a table maximum at 20 or we go somewhere else” and they said “No no at 20 should be ok!!”. We waited and at 20 we entered again. We talked with the Italian chef and he told us that those people were continuing to order food and that we could leave them one of our phone numbers and they will call us when a table was free. We gave them a phone number and we went to a bar near the pizzeria to drink something while waiting for the table (we did this just because we needed to stay close, otherwise we would have gone to the city centre immediately). They still didn’t call us, so at 20.45 we call them and they said “Yes one of the table is paying”, so we take all our stuff and go there again. But guess what? All the tables were still full. So we said to the waitress that 5 minutes before she told us that a table was paying, but she said “Yes they paid, but then they sit again and they are talking”. I was so angry (and hungry) that I said “I don’t care. You tell them to go, because they ate, they paid and you have other customers that are waiting!” and she said “Oh no, sorry, we don’t do these things”. Oh, so you don’t ask people to go after they eat but you let 8 people to wait 1.30h even if they book a table? Logical. Fortunately, in that moment, the table that paid heard us and left. We finally sit at 21 and something. In the end, the pizza was good, like the ones that I’m used to eat in Italy, but they will never see me again in that place, because you don’t treat people like that. P.S. and the table that left wasn’t even the big table that we were supposed to have, they stayed there until 22. 5...
Read moreUsually I don't like to leave the reviews, but in this time I had to, as my girlfriend had a food poisoning of your olive oil "flooded" dishes, spend a few hours sick and had to vomit! I usually pick my dinning places reading reviews and seeing many reviews and many happy customers decided to give a try this place. What a mistake and dissapointment was that 🤦🏻♂️!! Ordered a Bruschetta for a starter. The bread was literally flooded in olive oil, so left most of the bread. When waitress asked how was it- I mentioned that it was way too much oil. Didn't get much sorry- just I will mention that. For the main I ordered Calsone and my girlfriend some other Pica. I have dinned in many Italian authentic restaurants around the world and one of my favourite pics is Calsone. Never seen a single sided, Again All flooded in the olive oil and with so much Salami! My girlfriends pica was pretty olive oily too. Left most of it. Was also quite shocked seeing at the other table waitress pouring an olive oil all around the pica. If you like a very fatty food and/or to "drink" an olive oil-this place is for you! Otherwise stay away and don't ruine your day! Not too mention, that in a proper restaurant if customer is not happy about the dish usually restaurant offers something on the house, but...
Read moreI had a couple of very bad experiences in Užupio Picerija and have to advise people against visiting it.
Firstly, the place itself is quite small and there's not a lot of space. The air inside is stale and it seemed that there is no air ventilation. Secondly, the food and service leave much to be desired. The server on both occasions was pushing me and others to change orders to what they call their "Monthly Meals". Don't fall for this, because what you'll get is a cold, barely out of the microwave, dish that tastes so bland that you will be clearly reminded - Italy is thousands of kilometres away. The pizzas that my friends ordered were so soggy it might as well have been called a "pizza soup".
On another occasion, in the middle of our meal, we were asked to change tables because it turned out that the one we were seated at was reserved. Our dishes and we had to travel to another table while everyone was looking at what the hell is happening. I would expect a better service from an establishment with a long and storied history.
My experience might just be poor luck as I have heard good things about Užupio Picerija, but the feeling that I get is that lately the quality has gone down significantly.
As an upside, the bread that was brought before the meal was...
