Meet Me At Chizu いらっしゃいませ
Chizu is a Japanese Café that is famous for their cheese drinks and croissant. They also provide other menus such as cakes, variety of savory rice, sides (gyoza, scrambled egg and more).
I have been to Chizu, Melawati for several times and often ordered their kitchen menus in which they were made out fresh by the chef. I usually would order myself their Kaarage Rice and a side of their Gyoza. Best combo! But, I have not had these items in awhile. Recently, I went to Chizu with a friend and ordered ourselves some pastries (Buy 3, Free 2) as what they have left since I came there around 850pm after work and run errands.
Honestly, I have tasted several items from overall of the given menus, and I feel like it does not taste as what their site had claimed especially towards their pastries. In addition, with their latest item of 3C's (Cromboloni, Cronigiri and Crookies). I personally think that these addition is not a good idea to be included as they would jeopardize the quality of their foods as what me and my friends have experienced before. To think back, the crookies are too sweet compared to other pastries/ bakeries. Nevertheless, I enjoy their plain croissant and savory pastry better.
Recommendation: Come to Chizu at least before 3pm for some fresh pastries. It gets cold, dry and hard even after they were reheated.
Cutlery: They will provide you scissors instead of knives, paired with forks. But, mind you the...
Read moreI just wanted to say, the food is meh. I'm a big fan pavlova and I have very high expectations taste about it. I bought the pavlova and a banana cake, FIRST OF ALL, the pavlova strawberries is not even WHOLE. IT WAS HALF FOR GOD SAKE. I paid RM16-RM20 for that? It has a very chalky taste, not to mention, the center of the pavlova is as hard as ROCK. The fact that Pavlova should be crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, but this one, sigh, it was way too chewy. I felt like my teeth about to fall off.
Second of all, the banana cake. I really have no comment about this but I have to. IT IS SO DAMN DRY. Bland taste as well, nothing much to expect. Sedap lagi banana cake dekat KK Speedmart.
Third, the drinks that I bought was Seasalt Lemon Breeze. The taste I would say its refreshing. Which is the only thing that us good in Chizu. Not to mention the croissant, who the heck gave a scissor to eat a croissant? Could've just gave fork & knife to begin.
Last but not least, the SERVICES. Well, I would say the staff is 'ok'. But, nose piercing in F&B?? I work at F&B for 3 years and it was one of the MOST unhygienic thing to wear in a restaurant/cafe. Disgusting. Have you ever think that what if your nose piercing went inside the food or the drinks? No brain is it? Management takkan tak check? It's mandatory to know the rules of F&B.
That's all. No thanks.
(PS: I saw a box of cigarettes on one of the dining tables and the store is reek...

Detailed review: Stumbled upon Chizu one evening while I was looking for a place to sit and do some writing. I was feeling a little peckish, and was craving something small but savoury. Lo and behold, Chizu with their handsome display of pastries, which amongst them was some promising looking savory options.
I had Mentaiko Mayo Snow Crab Danish and a cup of hot matcha.
Both were pleasant. The pastry was served with a fork and a pair of scissors, although the pair I got was not sharp enough to cut through the pastry and it was a little loose (or maybe because it is not meant for a left-handed person). But I don't have a problem enjoying the danish pastry with my hand as it typically should be.
The price can be a little on the steep side, but the quality closely matched them.
Ample seating available. I saw a few tables occupied with smaller group meeting/discussions. Up to 60% of the tables have a power outlet nearby to charge your devices.
The space though seems a little echoic. So when someone who was sitting two tables away from me happened to be watching some videos on their phone with the sound playing from the speaker, it was slightly disturbing.
But overall, I can see myself coming back here to get some work done and try their other pretty looking pastries. I just need to bring my headphones...
