Sekinchan Seafood Restaurant is undoubtedly a popular spot, as I discovered upon arriving during the dinner rush. The place was buzzing with activity, filled with families and groups of friends eager to enjoy its Cantonese-style offerings. The menu is extensive, covering both seafood and classic Chinese dishes, and I managed to try a fair variety during my visit.
We started with the spinach egg soup and bamboo clam soup, both warming but somewhat lacking the depth of flavor that makes a soup truly memorable. The stir-fried vegetables were fresh and crunchy, a safe choice done decently well. Moving on to the mains, the sweet and sour crab stood out for its vibrant sauce, though it leaned more on tanginess than balance. The sweet and sour pork was enjoyable, but again, it felt a little rushed in preparation. The bean curd was light and comforting, while the ginger chicken yam basket was nicely presented, offering a contrast of textures that worked well together.
One detail that did not stood out was the rice, which felt overly grainy and lacked the polished, premium touch often expected in a well-regarded Chinese restaurant. Overall, while the food carried familiar flavors, it seemed to lack the depth and umami richness that elevates a meal into something exceptional. Service, on the other hand, was attentive and efficient, which helped the overall experience. Sekinchan Seafood Restaurant may serve as a lively gathering spot, but with refinement, it could deliver a more impressive...
Read moreBooked one 10 pax table for reunion dinner. Parking need luck and walking. The dining room was full but still ample gap for people to walk around . Additional tables were added along the outside. Place was cool. Lou sang normal. Fin soup better then normal. My elderly mum love this dish and had 2 or 3 serving. Steam chicken was young and firm. My mum love this too even with limited teeth. Should be kampung chicken. Enough exercise to build muscle. Patin fish too much fats in the belly. Rear is cages with less swimming. The cooking was good. Just unable to eat the belly. Pork trotter with mushrooms ok. Better if mushrooms is cooked longer so it is softer. Prawn good even though a bit too salty. Wax meat rice nicely done. 5 stars. Pan cake with sea coconut/longan good. Overall it was an enjoyable meal with good service. Would have given 5 stars if the fish is without the fats. There is no hidden extra. I paid the same as advertised in promotion brochure. I would...
Read moreTruly forgottable place, nothing excited me knowing full well where they're from as the name suggested. To say that they're master at feast catering would he overly boastful, knowing their stds were not up to par generally. Yes I've been there as quite a few times but todate no restaurant stood out as outstanding or exceptionally good and so was this restaurant. It was a meeting amoungst old pals who picked this place for lunch. Yes we'd ordered some dishes, didn't take any pictures as all turned out pretty so so Sekinchan style and taste. Ordered 5 dishes and we couldn't finished it all. Neither did we ta pau anything. Infact we did savour our puer tea very much over 10 rounds. At the end of the day, I had no Memory of what we ate or ordered and that was as good as they're with us. Would I go back again. Well no. It was that...
