Heavenly food, great dessert (that cannot be eaten). Don't forget to pray.
Here's why.
Heavenly food: we ordered six small dishes for our table of five. What a feast. Green curry. Flavourful, great with rice. Fried kangkung. The leaves were as crunchy as potato chips, sweet as honey. Like a savory snack or dessert. Salted egg mantis prawn: umami bomb. Loved the crunch on outside, and the tender flesh on the inside. Black pepper squid: Crispy, crackling, glistening with dark soy. Each bite is like an explosion of pleasure. Otak otak: a creamy mix of fish, prawns and squid held together by eggs and spices. Nothing like the northern or southern style. One of a kind. 4 heavenly kings: 4 types of ordinary veggie stir fried in an extraordinary sambal sauce.
After lunch, I spied the food on the other 20 tables. Everything looked good. Can't go wrong. But I didn't regret ordering many small dishes.
But skip the cendol dessert. The shaved ice, sugar and santan fell way below our expectations after such a spectacular meal.
Instead, just ask for the bill. Savour the prices and taste the sweetness of the incredible value for money. It's better than eating dessert! We laughed...looking at our bill.
That's why you need to pray.
Pray that the owner and management will keep up the good work and good staff. And keep up the high culinary standards.
Pray that they won't raise the prices hahaha.
Give thanks to God for the food, service and value. Leave with a thankful heart and...
Read moreAfter so many years of patronising this place to my horror it was the worst ever encounter. We knew the food has degraded but thought to give another try. But it ended terribly. We Ordered the seafood tomyum and it was definitely not worth rm15 and the most pathetic ever tomyum in my whole entire gastronomic experience. The were 2 small fried pieces of fish ( 1 with meat the other looks like fish but was fried flour instead), 2 prawns, slices of mushroom ( 4 pcs thin strips like we gotta do some treasure hunting to find those pieces) and a whole load of clams aka lala. Out of the so many, we only eaten 4. So many clams shells and no clams???? I wonder if they gave us empty shells? I don't know and I dare not say given the current economic conditions, good eateries gone bad and cost saving may have driven them to do weird unfathomable things. Besides, we also had issues with the tomyum which has an unexplainable amount of salt and sugar. Literally unable to put another spoon full into our mouth! Good heavens.. this place is not even Thai authentic! The food served was very undeserving even for a one star to be frank. If you love very salt and very sugary food, it is for...
Read moreFirst time trying this place and I am liking it. It's a cozy restaurant serving Thai food. There is a wide range of food available on the menu. I have tried the crispy pork, thai green curry, crispy kangkong, tomyam soup and also salted egg fried river mantis. Crispy pork was nice. It has a crispy outer layer and soft and tender pork. Green curry is flavourful and spiciness is okay. Tomyam is thick and aromatic. The Salted egg fried river mantis was okay, the sauce was good, but the fried river mantis lacked texture. It's like the river mantis was already fried but left out for some time, and toss into the salted egg sauce for a final stir fry before serving. It has that cold crispy flour consistency. Overall the food is rather good, and I highly appreciate the serving speed here. It was fast, like really fast. After ordering, drinks were served almost immediately. Food came 10mins after that. I remember adding another dish when we were almost done, and it was served under 5 minutes. 😎.
Had a chance to try the cendol. The sweetness level was good, and I liked the consistency of the cendol. They had the springy texture. Sort of...
