First time had the opportunity to order takeaway after reading all the reviews. To be frank I don't want to sound too critical yet I need to be fair as well. I was very excited to order food after reading all the good reviews however my excitement turned to disappointment when I I tasted the food. Visually it's very good and ingredients are of good quality BUT what lacked was the taste and authenticity. Very disappointed with the Calcutta fish because in all my travels I have never found anyone serving DORY in a white gravy without mustard base and that too from Calcutta. Very disappointed indeed. The next big disappointment came from the pea's pilau, I leave the reader to judge from the photo. The onion pakora was bland and needed some zing and spiciness to it in the form of accompaniments i.e.chuttny and not a red sauce that I didn't even open. The only thing almost right was the naan, I ordered cheese naan but I couldn't find the cheese and the naan was not a naan in the traditional sense but a tandoori roti rubbery and chewy. I would not say the food was bad but it was not what was to be expected from a good quality restaurant with prices comparable to other fine dining restaurants I have been to. Hopefully they can improve on the taste and authenticity the next time I try, and please for god's sake don't ever use dory in an...
Read moreI came here twice and was disappointed with the food. Additionally I had a terrible experience with the staff, as they gave me the wrong dish and demanded that I pay extra. Story below:
On my last visit I asked for the lunch special. I repeated this 3 times and pointed to the item on the lunch menu to the waiter and a woman at the counter. There's only a few items on the lunch menu with large pictures, so it should be absolutely clear what I want.
Unknown to me they brought me a "special dish". This dish was rice and chicken, and looked similar to what I ordered. I assumed it was a different variation of the lunch special.
When paying, the woman at the counter demanded that I pay for the special dish, which was double the price of what I ordered. She then accused me of being wrong, and that I shouldn't have eaten the food (even though I had no clue this was a "special" dish).
After some arguing I ended up paying the price for the lunch special, and got a lecture from the woman about how I shouldn't have eaten the food.
This experience, combined with the uninspiring food, left a bad taste...
Read moreI use to eat at Little India Gem Restaurant. The fish briyani was amazing. However, here when I ordered Fish Briyani it was so bad. The briyani rice would probably have been prepared earlier and that was still a little flavourful. But the fish, oh my god! Probably that’s a dory fish maybe and that was very bad. The fish was very in small pieces and tasted like I am eating a flour fritter. No fish taste and the texture was so rubbery. The price for fish briyani was RM24.90, i felt it not worth at all for that kind of fish. I can’t even eat the fish and I just left it aside. I can’t even eat the rice because I don’t feel like eating it alone without any sides. I also ordered plain egg omelette which was not worth as well. The price was RM7.90. Overall, bot satisfied with the food quality and price. The ambience was too good!
I forgot to take pictures of the Fish briyani...
