I feel this experience needs to be shared.
I ordered bak kut teh and double confirmed with the lady who took my order (an auntie) that I did NOT want any innards. When my bowl arrived, I started eating and only realized a few bites in that it contained innards. I immediately asked the same auntie to come over and showed her the bowl (photo was taken at that moment). I picked out a few pieces of innards. She paused, then admitted, “Oh, you’re right you ordered without innards!”
To avoid making things difficult for her, I simply said “It’s okay.” But what surprised me was her response: she just laughed and walked away. No apology, no offer to replace the bowl, no gesture at all no compensation for extra pork…I was honestly speechless.
When I went to the counter to pay, I asked the cashier (who I believe is the boss lady) whether the price is the same with or without innards and it is. She even told me “If there’s anything wrong, you can let us know and we’ll change it for you.” The issue is, I did let them know. The staff admitted their mistake. So… what now?

This Bak kut Teh franchise serves herbal soup base as well as dried version Bak Kut Teh. The herbal soup version has a distinctive aroma and the after taste gave me a mouthful of light spice fragrance. In additional the above we also order the vinegar pork trotter, the sweet dark vinegar & ginger slice was not only tasty, it brought back lots of memories, as this dish has been a faithful dish for pregnant ladies of chinese race who had just given birth, as this dish is believed to fortify the calcium loss during pregnancy.
