Food : BAD. VERY BAD. The only decent dish was the Sotong Goreng tepung. Our Ikan Siakap bakar was not cooked thoroughly. There’s a few areas which was uncooked. Seafood In Tomyam was smelly. Telur dadar was chewy (I don’t know how they made it chewy. I have never eaten chewy telur dadar in my 27 years of living) Overall, none of the food that arrived was hot. It was cold ! Tomyam was cold, telur was cold, kailan Ikan Masin was cold. Ikan bakar was cold. Even the rice was cold !
Ambiance : Good and windy. Great location & ambiance. Toilet was a bit dirty.
Service: Now this is very interesting. We were ordering to this guy and somehow he wasn’t even looking at us. He was looking at his colleague the entire time. But ok. Acceptable. When all the food arrived, I noticed my rice wasn’t there. So I waited thinking that oh probably they were scooping the rice. 5mins later I asked the same guy that took our order, ‘dik, nasi tak sampai lagi’ he replied while grinning and scratching his head ‘eh eh, ha’ahh la’ and just stood there. I was so confused and replied ‘Habistu Kalau takda nasi ni semua nak makan dengan apa ?’ While pointing to the dishes. Only then he went and took my rice. Weird
Will I come back here or recommend this place ? BIG NO. No no no. The waiters are all so lazy. Just sitting on the table chit chatting and playing w their phone...
Read moreWent here with my extended family members, including my in laws, nieces and nephews - about 15 people.
Good point -
1- good ambience, enjoyable eating environment and experience. 2- price wise I think very considerable and affordable for 15 people to eat. We ordered set for 8 person which included medium sized siakap and jenahak, calamari, prawns, stir fried vegetables, apple asam boi juices as well as satay ayam. 3- taste wise - pretty much spot on. Not much complaint here, truly satisfied. 4- Their staffs were young and well trained. Although many of them quite young age, they were very patience, quick on their foot and calm to handle the crowd.
Point to improve -
1- Parking could be quite a challenge. They do provide parking space for patrons but if only there could be more space. Or else you need to park at roadside. Just ensure you didnt block the entrance at Poslaju office beside the restaurant. 2- Definitely need more staff, because Lan's Corner very well known spot especially for tourists to enjoy their dinner time after whole day going around Penang. Lan's Corner definitely 1 of good choice for tourists to end their visit to Penang with good notes, but given their serving time taking quite some time it might leave some bad review from hungry patrons.
Keep it up...
Read moreWe patronized Lan's Corner Ikan Bakar Sambal Meletop for dinner on our first night in Penang. It was about a 25-minute Grab ride from our hotel to the restaurant. The place was easy to spot, located amidst tall buildings and adorned with lights and trees, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
There were a few seating options available, and we chose the open seating area since the weather was clear and it wasn't expected to rain. The restaurant also features a children's play structure with a slide, which is a great idea to keep the kids entertained while the adults enjoy their meal.
The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived, and we noticed several servers relaxing. However, they promptly attended to us as soon as we were seated. We ordered a variety of seafood, vegetables, and satay. Everything was delicious, especially the ikan wrapped in banana leaf with sambal sauce, which we later found out had gone viral on social media.
We appreciated the tropical plants surrounding the restaurant, which added to the pleasant dining experience. With a lot of options on the menu, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on our first night in Penang. Overall, Lan's Corner Ikan Bakar Sambal Meletop provided a delightful start...
