One of the worst experience I ever had in Penang. It was supposed to be my friend's birthday treat there. Went there with full expectation only to be returned with disappointment. We already reserved a table for 10 pax few days before. The atmosphere and ambience was nice. And that's the only good thing about it.
Issues:
Most of the drinks are unavailable. It was 9pm when we reach the cafe and the cafe supposed to be open until 12am. How is it possible for most of the drinks to be unavailable that early?
It took almost an hour and a half for us to get a simple Coca-Cola and iced water. The place wasn't even crowded that time.
Pomegranate Oolong Tea. It's more like a simple tea. There was not even a slight hint of Pomegranate there.
Food not accurate as per the description at all. And when asked the waiter told they replaced the ingredient with another because the ingredients are out of stock. And the worst part is without our consent. For example, the grand platter was supposed to come with chicken satay sticks but was replaced with chicken nuggets. How can both of them be the same? Next, salmon wasabi salad had no dressing and no wasabi. First time I'm seeing a salad without any dressing at all and not even tossed properly. It's like eating raw vegetables that have been cut. And put into a bowl. Another is cheese baked linguini. I think the chef needs to understand what is cheese baked. The waiter did come ask me that they don't have linguini and can replace with olive oil. Like dude do you even know what is a linguini first? How can a pasta be replaced with olive oil? I confirmed him back whether he asking regarding the sauce and he said yes. So I assumed the bolognese sauce finished maybe and wanna replace with olive oil dressing? Once the food came, I was shocked. It's just a pasta with olive oil dressing and certainly it was not cheese baked. The stuffed chicken cordon bleu supposed to come with chips but was replaced with Brocolli without our consent as well.
Food arrived very late. The food arrived almost an hour and half as well. And the worst part is a couple came after us. They ordered chicken cordon bleu and frankenstein burger which 2 of my friends ordered as well. And they received it first before we received ours. I'm fine if it was like 5 minutes difference between the timing. But it was almost 30 minutes difference.
Their solution for all of this is 10% discount. Like we were discounted for thei service charge.
Pls do consider a few times before going to such a cafe. Utterly...

What I ordered and opinions
appetizer mushroom soup - soup was very nice but the bread was just a small slice like? 2.sarang salad - new taste, a lil bit on the salty side but i loved this one the most. oyster - like it. could taste the sea and the oyster for me its worth the price.
had wonderful appetizers and was very looking forward to the main course buttt
mains burger - very dry and oily. only love the thai salad and the sweet potato fries black angus steak - really love the moisture and the meat to its fat but it barely tasted anything? I paired it with the gravy and it tasted so much better with it. but the gravy was just tooo little huhuhu wanna cry brb balinese chicken - looking forward to a new taste but my friend who ordered it said she was very disappointed with the taste. it merely something we can do at home and put it into simpler words, 'ayam kicap'.
dessert we ordered coconut ice cream but it was just too late at the time so the order did not complete.
drinks mocktails - it tastes just ok and it made u in awe for like 1 minute and thats it. but if you want to be in awe so why not order it mango frappe - ok, nice.
thought we could have the dessert and ended our gastronomy trip with good endings but it did not seemed so.
final verdict: ambience - it was nice, but we got on to the simpler decorated area which i did not expect since i booked the table beforehand. taste - like what i have mentioned price - some was just overpriced for me and some were worth it parking - easy to find SERVICE - I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR THE NIGHT BECAUSE OF THE SERVICE AND I AM GIVING 4 STARS BECAUSE OF THE SERVICE. REALLY LOVED...
Read moreFirstly it is signposted/marked on the map as Epicure so if you see this sign, it also seems to be The Safe Room. We are a young, large family of 6 with 4 little ones 5 and under. As we were the only ones there at 6ish in what seemed like a formal and funky decorated (large stuffed peacock, large bright retro paintings) dining space without a kids menu, I was worried how we would go but turns out this was the best meal we had in Georgetown/Penang. The staff spoilt our kids by generous meals (pasta, burger, fish and chips) which they all enjoyed and finished, also taking them to the kitchen to entertain them whilst waiting, giving complimentary fries when they saw they devoured the first order and even gifting our youngest boy the dino truck that happened to be on the cashier counter. We really enjoyed the tasty adults meals too, very tasty Asian inspired American style steak menu. I had the prawn curry (?forgotten the name) and my husband had the steak. This was the first time we had a meal that we all trusted, not only from a hygiene and food quality perspective but also in terms of knowing they understood that our kids wouldn't eat spicy food. It was more expensive than other places but I think it was good value and we'd happily return. This is a hidden gem that surprises. We would recommend to any families looking for a satisfying western/Asian...
