This used to be my top rated burger in Penang last time (way before MCO) and I haven't really been to Spades for a long time already. Decided to check it out today and first of all, my first impression when ordering already potong-stim. I ordered Dark Knight and when I told them I want beef, I need to add RM2. Fine, then I realized to get fries as part of set, i need to top up more money so after hearing this, just decided to go for wedges since you don't have to top up money. Waited a while and when my burger arrived, i can see that the crispy cheese already shrink a lot and I also felt that the patty size already shrink as well. The burger is still acceptable but I wouldn't pay almost RM25 for this. Last time it used to be that I am more willing to pay for Spades rather than Mekdi. I guess time has changed and now I feel going to Mekdi is so much more worth it. Not planning to return to Spades anymore in near future. They are no longer the darling of burgers in Penang and sadly if I recall, their tagline is better burgers. But that is no longer the case now. Don't really feel their burger is great anymore. Oh yeah, and one last thing. I noticed that they have a number of menu item not being sold anymore so looks like the selection has shrink as well.

The food overall was not bad, but the attitude of the worker was disappointing. I intentionally used GrabPay to pay for my order to enjoy the 20% dine-out discount. However, i was told by the worker that Grabpay dine out discount is not accepted in this restaurant after i made the payment through Grabpay. Then what is the point that u put you the grab pay dine out 20% in the grab application? The worker blamed me for not informing her beforehand that I was using GrabPay.But, there were no any notice in the restaurant stating that Grabpay dine in was not allowed ,how could u assume the customer will know this? Although I eventually received the 20% discount, I still felt uncomfortable because of the worker’s attitude and how she blamed the customer. As a customer, we just want to enjoy the discounts we’re entitled to. If the shop truly doesn't accept the promotion programme GrabPay dine-out discount , they should notify customers in advance whether they participate in this promotion /programme.

Today we decided to order Spade’s Burger from i-avenue for dinner. We ordered Baconizer, Orgashroom(plus), bacon strips and porkets. Baconizer (pork burger with cheese strips, bacon and sauce) - it is very delicious on every bite as it is fill with meat and crispiness from the bacon and cheese strips, the sauce is juicy and delicious, the bun is charcoal type and very fresh as the texture still feel very fluffy. Orgashroom (pork burger with mushroom and cheese) - its good but not as good as baconizer and it is fill with loads of meat and crispiness. Bacon strips - i felt it is just average and it is very oil on each bite (duh! it is deep fried bacon coated with batter) Porkets - pork nugget, you wont find many places with pork nugget, so it is worth a try Overall: I kinda like their burger, bun is still fluffy and squishy, ingredient is fresh and juicy. I did tried their speciality before (Spades) and it is a good combination of meaty burger as well!

Finally had Spade's burger after many years and realized the difference for the years have passed. Spade's burger in my past experience was amazing, one of the best burgers i had in my opinion, the taste was amazing and i craved for more. And when i went to it recently i realized the changes in the restaurant itself. The food itself was still amazing in my opinion, I'd give it a 10/10. The only other thing that's a problem is the restaurants hygiene and atmosphere. Due to the years have passed the place looks dimmer, the lights felt more dimmer, the ceiling looks dirty, the tables and floor are dirty too and the area near the sink is kinda full of store's inventory stuff, the toilet is closed too. I noticed the cashier's area have an overloaded power supply connected to more overloaded power supply and the cleanliness of it is dirty as well. The staff forgot some of my items like sauces, drinks, drink cover and plastic due to the fast paced enviroment and atmosphere so I don't blame them. I still recommend this place for the amazing food but i hope the hygiene and cleanliness...
