Street Grill - Burger Bakar — Restaurant in George Town

Having read about this place, I decided to give it a try to see what all the raving was about. The stall, which operates at the back of a van, is located right in front of the Honda showroom along Jalan Pinang. Operation hours means there's less traffic and parking is readily available.

The smoky stall that greeted me with about 4 to 5 customers waiting around was a good sign that its popularity has maintained in the 6 years its been in operation. What enticed me further were numerous pieces of whole chicken thighs sizzling away over a real grill.

The aroma was truly inviting, and there are three kinds of meat on offer - chicken, beef and mutton. I ordered one of each, but mutton was not available. There is an option for melted cheese as well.

As I waited for my order, more and more customers came, and some phone orders came in as well. My waiting time for my order was close to about 20 minutes.

So, how were the burgers? The beef patties were not finely grounded but were chunky and had a hint of mediterranean spice used in the marination. The chicken, however, was the real star. Well grilled, juicy and absolutely delicious. No wonder the bulk of the orders were for the chicken option.

Go for the cheese add-on. A platter with cheese is slowly melted on top of the grill before it gets slathered over your burger patty, creating an ooze which enhances your burger tremendously.

Just swung by Street Grill in George Town for a takeaway feast, and let's just say it was a bit of a mixed bag. The folks there were super friendly and helpful, which definitely adds some points to the experience. We grabbed a Single Chicken Burger, a Single Beef Burger, and decided to go a bit wild with Singles topped with Melted Cheese for both the chicken and beef.

Gotta be honest, the taste didn't quite live up to the hype. I'd been here before, and this time around, the burgers were just... meh. The flavors seemed to be on vacation or something. The Single Chicken Burger and Single Beef Burger were kind of average, lacking that punch I was hoping for. Even with the Melted Cheese, it couldn't save the day.

It's a bit disappointing because my last visit here was way better. Maybe it was an off day, but the lack of flavors was hard to ignore. On the upside, the vibe was still good, and the people working there were as friendly as ever. If they can bring back that flavor explosion from my last visit, Street Grill could easily be a top spot. Here's hoping they spice things up a...

Finally had the chance to try this hyped up burger with great reviews. I ordered the double beef burger with melted cheese. First off, i find that their mix of sauces weren't complementing the burger well. It felt like only mayo and ketchup was added. A very basic combination if you ask me. I couldn't taste if any bbq sauce were added. In my opinion, it would be great if the folks can refine the recipe of their burger sauce to make it unique to their own brand. Their self made beef patties were too chewy for my liking and I would have hoped for more seasonings as they were on the bland tasting side.
