(1- worst, 10- best) Taste: 8/10 Price: 7/10 (RM30-50/pax w/ 1 main & 1 drink) Service: 9/10 (very friendly staff) Ambience: 8/10 (bright and spacious, minimalistic design) Parking: 5/10 (hard to find parking, better to Grab) Good for both delivery & dining in. For delivery, cheaper to order directly from them than via delivery app.

My order review: Catch of The Day (Fish & Chips) Deep-fried Alaska pollock fish: fried perfectly, tastes very fresh

Avocado Almond Frosty Smoothie Strongly recommended by the staff as it doesn’t come in very often.

Lotus Wheatmeal Crunchy Cookies Cup the cafe’s latest creation: a drink (choice of fresh milk/cafe latte/dark chocolate) served in a cookie cup. The edible cup is very dense and has a strong oat flavor. It works as a dessert but not as a drink because of the small amount the cookie cup can actually hold.

My friend’s order review: Chicken Bacon Carbonara It’s above average compared to other carbonaras available. It has a strong but not overpowering garlic taste and the spaghetti is cooked al dente. It uses a cream-based sauce but also comes with an egg yolk like a traditional carbonara. Worth the price as it’s a good portion for

First off, the food we had was excellent and I’d say worth the (high) price. However, I do have a few things to say about this place in hopes they can do better.

  1. ordering by QR code is annoying as hell. I hate it.
  2. having the customers do all the work (entering their own orders, getting their own plates and utensils and water) is not really a “high end” restaurant experience. If you want to charge high prices, you should be providing service to your customers. Furthermore, it seems you have more than enough staff to actually provide this level of service but they are mostly standing around instead of helping customers, so I don’t know what the benefit is here. It’s certainly not the customer’s benefit.
  3. Brunch (breakfast/lunch items) should be available during brunch times - ideally 3pm but certainly until 2pm. Not the entire breakfast menu but perhaps a select few items.
  4. almost 20 RM for a syrup-based smoothie, no matter how fancy you make it, is robbery. Even if it was fresh fruit, it would still be outrageous but borderline acceptable. I’m not 100% positive this is the case for you as I didn’t want to take the chance and I saw the syrup bottles and no fruit, so made an assumption. If I’m wrong, I apologize (perhaps be more clear if you use fresh fruit).

I don’t mean this to come off as a bad review, as I said the food was very good, but as suggestions for...

Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience here. I don’t even know why this place gets so many good reviews because :

  1. Service: Almost none except to place menu & cutlery on the table n serving food with almost no conversation at all. The servers don’t even look awake for the lack of word. No apologies when food was served late. As my husband said, the place lacks soul.

  2. Drinks: the flat white was soooo milky (see photo) with very little taste of coffee. Also took them a long time just to make it.

  3. Food: you would think that with 2 ppl ordering food, at least there’s a 50% success rate but nope, it was complete failure. The peanut butter French toast was so dry and definitively don’t recommend it at all. I had to wait more than 40 mins before tomyam bisque was served, n that is after following up with them. It tasted like half the tomyam paste fell into the soup, extremely salty, not to mention there’s no fish tenders in it too (it was mentioned in the menu). Another one which u shouldn’t order too.

Definitely don’t feel like coming back here again despite the tantalising looking menu. Overpromised,...

It uses a cream-based sauce but also comes with an egg yolk like a traditional carbonara. - Worth the price as it’s a good portion for < RM20. Waffle Fries - Crispy but a little over-cooked and seems to be store-bought frozen fries. The sweet spicy chili sauce gives a kick to it. The food served is identical to what’s displayed in the menu and the portions are huge, so it’s worth the price. The server was very patient while explaining the items on the menu, which took him about 15 mins of standing at our table, and was able to customize to my diabetic dietary needs. I was given the carb contents for the drinks I ordered. He also gave a few of his personal recommendations to try, one of them was the grilled chicken, although the waiting time required is 30 mins as stated in the menu. Overall, I’d recommend this place for a meal and a great hangout. The food and the staff make it worth a visit.

My unplanned visit to Unknown Cafe and Bistro in Penang after dinner turned into a surprisingly great experience! This cafe is beautifully set up, offering both inviting exterior and comfortable indoor dining areas. The outdoor space is wonderfully spacious and airy, perfect for enjoying the sea breeze, while the indoor area is well air-conditioned, providing a cool retreat. I particularly loved the soft, relaxing, and chill ambiance created by the dominant green color scheme. The staff here are exceptionally friendly. They even noticed us approaching the cafe from a distance and came smiling to greet us, which was a lovely, welcoming touch. Their beverages are not only beautifully presented but also flavourful, and all at reasonable prices. The desserts are really good too – if you appreciate great drinks and delicious desserts, this place is a must-visit. I also realized that it's a Muslim-friendly establishment, making it a great option if you're looking for a place to enjoy lunch or dinner with your Muslim friends. Considering it's a cafe by the sea with a beautiful view and fantastic staff, the prices are truly reasonable.
