A no-frills China Chinese restaurant specialising in Northern Chinese noodles, dumplings and buns. Environment is just bright fluorescent lighting and plain tables and chairs but air-conditioned so its comfy especially when enjoying hot soup noodles. The have a well-oiled assembly line system, orders being taken by tablets and received immediately by the kitchen who gets food ready faster than you can finish your Tiktok binge watch.
Cutlery and utensils are self-service from a sanitary cabinet, as is the free hot Chinese tea, which one pours from bigger kettles into small teapots to bring to the table.
Being in operation for about 8 years already, this place has a large base of loyal customers among local Chinese, my family included. We have been eating here since our first child, now 7, was a baby, and all our kids never say no to their favourite 'China noodles' treat. So we use dinner here as motivation to get them to do things 🤣
Not all menu options might suit the local palate so if you want to play it safe, go for the zha jiang mian, the celery pork dumplings (as well as the leek if you like leek), the fried dumplings. If you want to try something different, the salty Mongolian milk tea is strange on the first sip, but grows on you if you let it. The BBQ options are delicious if you are accustomed to the northern Chinese cumin-heavy spice rub they use.
English might be a challenge for the owner couple, but they are lovely and will try to figure communication out. Staff are all Myanmarese and some speak English. Menus have both Chinese and English printed, so hand...
Read moreTried the things that most people thought were good. 葱油饼, 熏肉大饼,小笼包,葱油面,炸酱面,猪肉白菜水饺。 This place is located at the side of a busy street of mount Erskine. Parking is limited, this shop has only 4 to 5 parking spaces which are almost always full, you can park opposite. I have a bit of comments on the food. The 葱油饼 is extremely dry and doughy, lack of onion oil fragrance and almost completely tasteless. Same goes to 熏肉大饼,meat is bland and the pastry is very bad. It is a big no no for me. 葱油拌面 All the noodles are sticking together forming a chewy cooked flour. Noodles are not springy. Consistency is bad. 炸酱面 Is also the same. The meat is salty which was good but the noodles is so dry it couldn't get the salty taste of the meat. 小笼包 Was rather good, same goes to the 水饺. Meat to skin ratio was good for these two items. There are free tea available. I hope the boss oversees the food quality because based on a lot of YouTuber and Google map reviews, the food was very good. For the price this is not acceptable. And the boss literally walks around talking to his 'regulars' without mask on.. his wife is the same. Guarding the cashier without the mask on. I brought a group of friends who had been to China before.. and was told that any of the road side stalls in China can make food...
Read moreMenu focuses on dumpling but there is a wide variety of food to choose from, ordered crazy lot to share with friends and the food is really delicious!
Sichuan Chongqing noodles is good, love the really hot soup, xiao long bao is really delicious and it is only RM1.60/pc (cheaper than other restaurants). Fried dumplings are good too.
For the skewers section, wanted to try bbq lamb but was already sold out. Ordered bbq pork, sausage and gizzard but the best is definitely bbq gizzard.
Smoked bacon was awesome, the texture is so thin it kinda melts in the mouth, 1st time trying out this type of smoked bacon.
Bacon pie is not recommended though, it was close to tasteless.
Was adventurous enough to try Mongolian milk tea (should be called Mongolian milk though, couldnt taste any tea in it) which is served only hot. Smell of milk (butter to me) is quite strong so do not order if you can't take the smell but it was...
