As a local Penangite, Xun Wei Nasi Lemak (寻味椰浆饭) has become my daily lunch destination, and it never disappoints. Located in the heart of George Town, this unassuming eatery offers a true taste of authentic Malaysian nasi lemak that keeps me coming back day after day.
Every lunchtime, I look forward to the comforting routine of visiting Xun Wei. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, typical of a beloved local spot where the focus is purely on the food. The aroma of coconut rice and sambal greets you as soon as you step in, promising a satisfying meal ahead.
My usual order includes their signature nasi lemak with crispy fried chicken. The rice is perfectly cooked, rich with the flavor of coconut milk, and the sambal is an absolute delight – spicy, sweet, and just the right amount of tangy. Each bite is a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, with crunchy peanuts, crispy ikan bilis, fresh cucumbers, and a perfectly boiled egg completing the dish.
The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, making it an excellent choice for a hearty lunch. Despite the popularity, the service is efficient, and the staff are always friendly. I often find myself arriving early to beat the rush, as this place gets quite busy with locals and tourists alike.
Xun Wei Nasi Lemak captures the essence of traditional Malaysian cuisine, making every lunch here a delightful experience. If you're in Penang and craving an authentic nasi lemak, this is the place to be. Just be sure to get there early – the nasi lemak is so good, it...
Read moreApologize for the sad photos, but I just had to capture something for this review. I ordered via delivery, and the taste was so good that it justifies how this shop is having a 5 star rating. I grew up eating asam fish prepared by my mom, this asam Fish tastes better than hers. Very very strong and genuine asam taste from the fish, packed with flavor and the sourness of the after taste, I can't believe I still get to taste such a original flavor, thanks to the chef. Another dish reminded me of the same, was the ikan bills cooked with Chilli and onions. That onion really gives it a nice kick , 1 mouthful of it goes very well with the rice. Lastly the curry chicken is definitely a 5 star, tender and the curry was thick and almost a rendang type of consistency, but not salty. I can see the chefs here cook with heart, and wants to deliver a real authentic nasi lemak flavor, I will go there to...

What truly sets this place apart is the warm touch of hospitality from the friendly lady boss, adding a personal touch to the culinary journey. Five stars for an unforgettable dining...
