Guoma Express — Restaurant in Iskandar Puteri

Was going to try Guoma for the first time ever, went into the shop and waited in front of the podium that says "wait to be seated" while I make eye contact with the staff that I assume that would be assisting me, but instead the said staff went ahead and assist the group of family that came in right after me and then proceed to send them to their table while I stood there in disbelief that the said staff just skipped my family and I. I got annoyed and walked out while mumbling "wth", my sister who saw the whole commotions and confronted the staff. The staff replied my sister saying that they knew we came first but should've initiated the conversation with him instead of waiting, then does that not defeat the purpose of of the "wait to be seated" sign? Also the staff didn't bother to reassure us or even say a simple and short sorry. I don't think I'll ever try Guoma again after this terrible service.

Note: Staff was wearing a black button up shirt (long sleeved) and also had a mushroom haircut. Perhaps he's someone of a higher rank at this outlet since he's the only staff in black. I hope upper management decides to review their staff to serve other better, I would not want others to experience what I did cause it was absolutely...

Giving it a 5 stars because it duplicates those same type of steamboat restaurants we saw in Taipei street. Nothing atas. Nothing fanciful. Just a nice pot of soup of your choice, with a big bowls of mixed veggies (which usually don’t see here) and the generous portion of main course meat. Soup may be bland at first. That’s why u put in the corn, pumpkin, cabbage to make it more savoury. Of course, please don’t compare it to those high end steamboat restaurant. It was never meant to be. Our kind of place! Personal pot steamboats are always a little less vibey than sharing pots. Not a very ideal place if you wanna have a more reunion-style dining experience. It’s rm30 per pax per pot, you can choose to share a pot but you have to top up rm5. The menu is pretty large. I’d say go for one pot and add on more sides so you can try more things together! Also because the food in the normal set is not that great haha mainly consists of fishballs meatballs balls ….

Love the sauces though! Not splendid...
