Food is lousy, service is atrocious!
Came to this restaurant outlet because I know chef Michael from Loon Seng Taman Daya. Every time we visit there he always looks after us well. So I thought all LS restaurant outlets have similar good standards. I am so so so wrong.
The LS restaurant outlet in this location is a faaaaaaar cry from the Loon Seng in Taman Daya.
Things started going downhill from the moment we sat down.
We wanted to order 伊面 but was told by the server that they don't have that on their menu. However my daughter saw an 伊面 item on the menu - lobster 伊面. So we clarified with the server, the server was surprised that there is an lobster 伊面 item on the menu. Feels like it is her first time seeing it.
🔴 Strike 1 - the server does not know what items are on the menu.
The server offered to check with her captain about the item.
The server then returned with her captain who is this short hair short lady, this captain told us condescendingly that the 伊面 is not available for a la carte standalone orders. They only serve 伊面 braised in lobster 🦞 and we have to order their set menu in order to have it. She offered no other explanations, made no offer of alternative dishes. She just stood there, looked down at us, no expression, no further words.
Seriously! How expensive or rare to come by is 伊面 for them to make such restrictions!
🔴 Strike 2 - the attitude of this short hair short lady captain is appalling.
We had previous pleasant dining experience in the LS Taman Daya, we have someone at home that particularly liked their 马来糕.
We asked the server if we liked to order the 马来糕 unsteamed to takeaway as we want to steam it ourselves, do we place the order now or do we tell them later when we finished our food, the server said she can take down and pack it for us when we are leaving.
We ordered three dishes 1) stir fried beef slices 2) salted egg yoke with squid and 3) seafood 泡饭.
The first item that was served to the table was the 马来糕 in a steam basket! We clearly asked for the 马来糕 to takeaway!
This is a clear gap between the server's order taking and the kitchen.
The stir fried beef slices that arrived had so much msg in it. We ate a few spoonfuls of that and was unable to continue as the msg was just too overwhelming.
The seafood 泡饭 was the final disappointment that we felt that we had enough. This dish usually almost every time we had in other has the crispy fried rice grains to serve on top of the hot boiling rice in broth. The rice grains that were served was not crispy but soft. We called the server over and asked her what she thinks the fried rice grains are for, she replied that it is crispy, in her words "脆脆的放在泡饭上面", so we invited her to try this "脆脆" rice grains. She put a few of it into her mouth and then admitted that it's in her own words "啊漏风了”.
We thought to just leave the fried rice grains out and just eat the 泡饭. As we ate we felt the strong taste of over salty and too much msg was consuming us.
This is not a coffee shop stir fry store, this is a restaurant in a mall, why did the chef have to put so much salt and msg into the dishes?!
🔴 Strike 3 - the dishes were too salty and too much msg.
We asked for all the dishes to be removed and we also do not want the 马来糕 anymore.
We went to the counter to ask for the bill, the short hair lady captain looked us sternly and asked curtly why we cancelled our order for the 马来糕.
We told her that the quality of the food is unacceptable, too salty too much msg. The dining experience was so unpleasant that we do not want to have the takeaway.
The manager happened to be nearby and overheard our exchange and walked over to offer us a 10% discount off the bill.
A kind gesture however I rather they spend more resources training their staff on customer service, customer order management and improving the chefs' culinary skills. The whole team in this restaurant outlet needs to go for training.

Read moreWent there for dinner with my family. We were met with irritated faces from the staff Rose in the front and another irritated staff face in Nick. They sat us begrudgingly and took our order. The food arrived was mediocre at best and the entire time we were there we were treated like a nuisance and because of the repeated treatment we started to act apologetic which I swiftly cut out form the family. We are paying customers ultimately and should be treated with dignity. At the end of the meal I signalled Rose for the bill. She then told another staff and continued doing something else. The table opposite from us asked for the bill and Rose brought the bill over to their table with the Credit card machine as well. I had to go to the front because no one extended the same convenience to me. Now tried to determine the reason for this mistreatment. Could it be that I was in berms and slippers? No. Others were wearing the same thing. Could it be that I had a toddler with me? No there were other families with the same age of child. Could it be that we didn’t order enough? U likely there was a couple that came in and orders fried rice and a side dish. We had 5 dishes,drinks and rice. The only reason left you may ask? I am Malay and this was a Chinese restaurant. So as much as it is confusing to me that a restaurant would treat me this way when they make such a big deal about being pork free thus inviting my kind in yet they treat me this way. Read moreFood are very delicious and taste suit us. Not too salty and not oily too. The lemon deep fried chicken chop surprisingly not those crispy which have alot of flour, I find it is worth to try. Cereal prawn display very grand and the prawn is very good!! Okay, service wise, abit okok.. hahaha. Just that the short hair aunty staff abit sticky, which i cant discuss with my family privately and feel very stressed, due to she said there is 3 tables that was reserved and if we are to order slow, then will be behind their order(do we look like we cannot wait?) Why rush us? Then when my sis making payment for the bill, she walked to the counter, and the aunty staff at the counter, forgotten our table! Wow! She has been serving us all the way and yet she forgotten!!! 'Best service' ever!! Other than that im okay yeah! Good to try the food!
& funnies thing is One of the staff very thick skin when she doesn't serve us but asked us to put her name to praise her, this is only when she is free, she come to our table and ask how's the food, how's everything and want us to comment and praise you?
