Unpleasant dining experience due to staff behaviour!
I had a deeply disappointing dinner experience here today all due to the unprofessional behavior of one of the staff members. While the Bangladeshi and Indian staff (Mr Krish & Mr Aslam) were excellent, super friendly and helpful, they served our dinner with a smile, and we even had some light-hearted banter and laughs with them over the meal. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the female Malay staff member (who we did not manage to get her name) who was plainly rude and condescending throughout our visit.
She unnecessarily pointed out our grammar mistakes during a private conversation, which felt intrusive. Worse, she made offensive, racist remarks about her colleagues, referring to them as "Bangladeshis who don’t understand other languages." Such behavior was completely uncalled for and ruined our previously good mood.
Her rudeness continued when she responded dismissively to a concern about our drinks order, after she had opened and poured the drinks into glasses without our consent. She smirked when we politely asked about refilling the side dishes, which are commonly advertised as free refills, and later made condescending remarks asking where we were from, implying that we didn't belong there, as if we couldn’t afford to dine at the restaurant.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the restaurant. It’s particularly disappointing that a fellow Malay and Muslim staff member would act in a way that shames her own community. Everyone left feeling bitter and disrespected. I strongly urge the management to address this issue and ensure staff like her are reprimanded, as no customer should have to endure...
Read moreI always went to Toppen branch for korean food, never know that Sunway Big Box had a Mr Dalgakbi here. Stumble upon (the places kinda hidden) and enter the premises without no expectation.
Services are kinda slow but bearable since there's a lot of people dining there. The music are also not too loud not to slow either (dined in at Kfry before and the music are freaking too loud!) and I'm glad that this branch didn't put some the loudest volume in the shop.
Price are okay, the portion are big for two people and mind you, they did not sell the cheese ring set anymore. It was replaced with cheese fall, quite okay and tasty. At least, the cheese won't hardened like the cheese ring after some time.
Staff and owners are fairly polite. I was craving for kimchi and when I had the side dish, i eat quite a lot (i did not eat vegetable) but this one was soooo good
Read moreMr.Dakgalbi has been around since the opening of Big Box in Dec 2019. Having survived not only the isolated location but also the pandemic for 2 years. There must be something unique that allow this Korean restaurant to operate till now, and today we were there to find out what it was. Once we walked in, the friendly owner greeted us and shown us to our table quickly. We ordered their signature dish with noodles and rice for 2. A giant pan with raw ingredient was placed in front of us within 5 mins. The server cooked everything in front of us, leaving us with the giant pan and all the ingredient neatly parked around the pan. It was a simple presentation, but we were already pretty impressed by it. The giant pan dish is called a dakgalbi and it was delicious. The chicken was well marinated and the gochujang sauce perfectly balanced the meat, cabbage, rice cake, potato and cheese. The rice and noodle were fried within the pan and neatly parked at the side leaving it to crisp up the bottom. At the end of the dish, we were trying to scoop up the crispy bits like a dog digging up it’s long lost bone. Nothing goes to waste (evidently in the last photo). As you tell by now, our excavation session says a lot on how scrumptious the meal was. When you are in the area, do dropby and support the local business especially when they are really good at...
