This is one of the nicer hotpot place in JB after going for so many. I have to give 5 star to this. Note that it is not wheelchair accessible as there is a big obstacle that you need to overcome at the entrance already. Heres my review on this below in detail.
Summary: Paid around RM280 for 2 of us. We ordered yuan yang soup (beef mala and pork bone), both soup is flavourful. We ordered around 10 different dishes, price is slightly more expensive for each dish but portion is big. So all in all is worth it. Condiments is RM5 for each person.
Soup: The beef mala soup has a slight hint of beef taste which enhances the flavour. The pork bone soup comes with a big pork bone in the soup and similarly the thick broth is like the soup in HDL, or maybe better. I did not try others as this was my first time but I will definitely go back.
Condiments: The sauces available are not as extensive as HDL for sure. They do have simple side dishes like marinated black fungus and cucumber like what HDL provides. There are water melon and melon as well to end your dinner. There is also free ice cream as a standard.
Items to order: So far on the items I ordered, nothing disappoint me.
Other items that I order.. nothing special but I think its quite worth it based on the price and portion.
I went during weekday offpeak dining time at around 2pm. There was probably 2 tables eating only. So I would not know how it is like when peak comes. But overall for service wise I think its reasonably ok. Atmosphere definitely the China vibe, only thing is that the place plays english songs hahaha! Maybe a bit tak match to the theme, small matter actually haha.
I seldom give 5 stars for hotpot as there is always some dish that Ill be disappointed in, but this is definitely a MUST go for me and I will visit it...
Read moreHotpot soup & ingredients were all pretty good. Around the same price range than HDL but would say this is more worth it. However why I would only give a low stars rating in total is cos of the service. Arrived at 10pm, was told that we could eat until 1130pm as they close at 12am- ok understandable and reasonable. The moment we sat down, less than 30 seconds a staff came by & said she will take our order via the iPad (I think the usual way was via QR). We didn't even have time to look at the menu & decide on what we want to eat. Nvm, we went to get our sauces, everyone was like rushing to clean up (there were staff cleaning & topping up the sauces area, everyone in the kitchen was already cleaning up. I work in F&B before & I know everyone wants to go home but it makes me feel very unwelcome.) Food arrived very quickly, as we start to eat, at 1030pm the same staff came by & said that it's their last order. I told her we barely even started eating, don't they close at 12? She explained their last order is at 1030pm- okay then. Anyways we said no & continued eating. We wanted to order smth else at abt 1045pm & tried our luck & asked but unfortunately they said their kitchen was close (nvm as this is our fault since they alr asked for last order.) Later I found out via their WhatsApp that their last order is at 1045pm? Left at abt 1115pm & most of the staff just using phone. All in all, if you happen to mind all these things & happen to want to patronise them when they r closing soon,...
Read moreVisited on a weekday for their promo RM98 lunch set for 2 pax running till end of May. Set included pork collar, pork belly, marinated chix thigh pieces, minced prawn paste, sliced potatoes as well as Chinese cabbages, ling long rolls, and handmade noodles as staple. Compulsory of RM5/pax will be charged for condiments but includes sauces, 2 fruits(watermelon & honeydew), ice cream as well. ChewY mochi with brown sugar sauce and a small, palm sized tub of almond pudding as dessert. Staff was attentive and throughout our meal cleared up empty plates, refilled our soup and drink, even got a fan to blow off unwanted steam from the boiling broth to another direction when we commented it was irritating one of us halfway through the meal. Take note that they have 7 to eight different broths to select. We had mala beef(level 1 spicy was like medium spicy to a spicy eater already) and old hen chicken soup was fragrant. Ingredients was fresh in general and their prawn paste was tasty, with good meat quality as well. Overall paid RM130 For 2 pax after service and tax etc, a fair price point given the taste and service. Might revisit only if there's value promo as this steamboat meal will easily cost 2 times more if order ala carte during dinner...
